1200 Valve Clearence Check Cost.

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Mobile Chicane, Jun 15, 2015.

  1. I need the valve clearances checking on my 2010 1200 multi.

The belts have been done as part of the sale deal in nov 2014 when I bought the bike but the supplying dealer cant say for sure that the clearances were done at the same time (12800 miles), record keeping issue apparently :Banghead:

So if all I need is the clearances checking and adjusting if necessary what should I be paying ( I'm assuming its a labour only task ).
I havent the skills or tools to diy it.

  2. ;)

  3. I've just had the full Desmo service (5 years/15k) carried out and the total cost (including full service, shims and new belts) was roughly £630, including UK VAT.

  4. Well done, that's just over 1\2 of what I paid!

  5. I would say £5-700 depending on dealer

  6. I used to reckon £600-800 for a full desmo service on my 996-era machines, occasionally hitting a grand on a bad day. That was in the Home Counties, so >£1k for a current generation machine seems high. Was there much other work needed doing? I got them to leave the coolant as that got changed in the pink stuff recall last year and I fixed the ABS/DTC failure myself, for the cost of two second hand ABS sensors off eBay, a few hours and a lot of swearing ;-)

  7. Yep, take off £300 for pullies
