Refund

  1. After 50 years of buying and selling cars and bikes, loosing money and road tax value I have just received my first refund under the new DVLA system. By the time the cheque gets to my bank account the transaction costs must be many times its face value but that's progress?

  2. how much was the original tax and how much was left to run?

  3. I have never, ever, received refund from DVLA. In fact, I am certain they don't even have a refunds system ... or I was, before Richard posted. The lucky, lucky bastard :)

  4. It's one months tax on a Lexus Hybrid which is £10.00 for a year. Under the new system as soon as the DVLA receive your "change of owner" part of the V5 then you get a refund of full months already paid. The downside is you will now never be able to buy a second hand car or bike with road tax on. When you purchase you will have to pay the tax before you can ride it away and on private buys that will be more difficult.
