1200 DVT Just Ordered A 1200 Dvt. Advice Needed

  1. Just ordered a 1200DVT with standard suspension.

Took it for a test ride and found the std suspension much better than the 2014 skyhook on my current bike, back to basics :) The only thing I found a bit annoying was some vibration at 80mph from the seat otherwise its a big improvement on the 2014 model

    Question??

I want to use my current Ducati top box, I have ordered the rear Luggage rack but this just seems to be a mounting plate. Do I also need to buy a Givi monolock mounting plate to bolt to the rack??Confused .com as the dealers didn't know either, I want to avoid buying the 2015 top box when I have a perfectly good top box already, just need to know how to mount the bl@@dy thing.

  2. The DVT can use the original 1200 top box which is givi monokey, however you will need the new fitting kit to adapt it to the bike. Sadly at this point no such kit is available unless you buy the top box kit complete.
I have been told by the dealers that the fitting kit should be available to buy soon although at this time it is not listed on their computer.
At this point there are no third party kits either.
The options are buy the new box complete or wait for the kit.

  3. You can buy a universal Givi Monokey mounting plate which i suspect you could adapt at least in the short term.

  4. You can buy the Ducati rack and monokey as seperate items from Ducati and put what ever monokey box on you want

  5. According to my dealer the rack is not available to order but should be soon, I watched him check the givi parts list.

  6. Hmm interesting, as I first speced my bike with all individual parts and that was including the rack and monkey plate, but in the end because the packs work out a better price even with parts I was not bothered about. I know there is a shortage of some parts.

  7. Just buy the urban pack and sell the old one to another multi rider

  8. Having a moan!!! I feel that the Audi Money/Marketing men and permanently moved into the Ducati Offices, Looking at spec'ing up my new DVT, firstly I want the touring pack as we spend a lot of time overseas, this SHOULD include the top box, wait lets put that in the urban pack instead so they will have to buy both!!!, no problem I,ll buy just the rack and use my current top box, sorry you cant!!! grrrrrrrrrr , and if I could that would leave me with a red top box and silver panniers as they no longer do colour co-ordinated luggage.
So now need to factor in another £600 into the cost, I know I could always look elsewhere but if its a MTS you want you're screwed. Pass the KY!!

PS, 2010-14 Topbox and rack shortly up for sale amongst other bits and pieces

  9. tbh urban riders need a top box, so you can see Ducatis cheeky way of extracting more cash, but just wait, givi will do something eventually

  10. Call me cynical but am sure Ducati have an agreement with Givi to keep the bits exclusive for a fixed amount of time

  11. You can buy givi tank back which is pretty identical already for way less, just doesnt have the power connector

  12. Hi Bradders, Not really interested in the tank bag with power, just the top box so can see me buying the urban pack just for the top box bracket and matching top box I suppose, will sell the tank bag, Any takers!!!!

  13. I think the topbox itself is identical to the one on the earlier bikes. And the mounting plate will be the same. Its just the hardware needed to mount the plate to the bike that is different.

  14. That's what I believe, the box and monokey plate are the same, its just the 2 bars that fit to the body work and the mounting plate that is different and that's what they wont sell !! so you either buy the 2015 top box to get that kit or the urban pack. kerrching for Ducati

  15. The dealer can order the top box complete with fitting kit, no need for the rest of the urban pack if you don't want it.

  16. I did look at that but it's better value having the urban kit, I can always pass on the tank case to one of you deserving members at a good price. Which ever way we are being fleeced

  17. I've opted for an urban too, as tye tankbag looks real useful and topbox will come in handy for when the missus comes along. After tryimg yours that time I realised its nit too difficult to get on/off with one

  18. Bags first dibs on Franksie' urban kit bits he don't want. :)
