Over time you get used to having no back brake, do you suppose I'll get used to having no fuel gauge as well? I wonder what the next issue will be. Had one of the early 2010 bikes, now on a Skyhook . . . . . what's difficult about a fuel gauge and a bloody brake!!
Ducati (and quite a few punters by the looks of it) have moved on now by bringing out the DVT. You and I have no chance I'm afraid.
To be fair you can get the back brake to work.:Angelic: Mine did and it was reliable on both the MTS1200S 2010 and the 2013 PP. New Pads decent make/type (or at least a de-glaze). Clean all traces of oil / grime from rear disk. Fit two bleed nipples to the ABS pump (one from the master cylinder on the rear lever and one for the pipe at the ABS pump to the rear calliper) Replace fluid with Motul RBF 600 Remove back wheel and calliper, then bleed the caliper upside down (place it back over the disk to limit piston travel). I find a ty-wrap useful here. Bleed all four brake fluid nipples until new fluid is seen and no air is coming out. Replace calliper to correct position and refit wheel. My rear brakes operate 100% correctly.....AS THEY SHOULD DO FROM THE FACTORY!!! :Banghead: Just thought I'd shout for the benefit of the designers at the factory.
Are you talking rear brakes again - I'm having to make proper electric leads now too..... :Banghead::Bag:
This, although I haven't done the bleed nipple or fluid thing, just get them hot by using it and it will work, I think cleaning the disc makes a big difference also. I have a 2014 skyhook and it does go off without use but a session of hard use sorts it out.
My PP is also skyhook and it does need the abs pump bleeding. It is the highest point of the rear brake circuit.
I have thought about doing it after reading your thread on the mod and all the positive comments (all credit to you for coming up with it and sharing the love but I really don't have a problem - that's not to say I won't though)
What I still haven't got my head around is the workshop manual states that you should "cycle the abs pump during bleeding". WTF does that mean and how? All I can say is that if you ride it in between and cause the abs to operate and then bleed the abs pump again you get some more air out. This isn't 100% scientific as the air may just be in the cap or threads.
There is usually a program on the ECU that runs the cycle when bleeding ABS. I guess for Ducati that is accessed via the DDS so something us mortals cant do.
Mine hasn't worked for a while, can't say it's good. Hopefully Snells will sort it out whilst I'm testing the DVT
Had my DVT for less than two weeks the faults have occurred are 1...... Bike not responding to keyless ignition (no electrics & steering locked ) 2.......fuel leaking from lower left panel (leaving puddle) 3......struggling to crank over and start Reported to Ducati who await response ! ! !
Beat this, I collected my new bike on a Saturday loaded it in the van drove several hrs home and once out the van the keyless was fecked . It's now sitting @ the dealers awaiting new keyless ignition (2 weeks I'm told) . I can live with a few issues and tbh the last couple of years having a brand new bike every year ive come to realise all manufactures are the same and have some form of issues.
Aircon, about step three, isn't there only one bleed nipple in the whole rear brake system (on the caliper itself)? By adding another two as you mention they add up to three, not four as you say in step six. And is there enough space to put the second banjo bolt with the nipple on the ABS unit (If I understand correctly you mean the banjo bolt for the link from ABS to master cylinder on the pedal, which is on the front/side of the ABS unit, right?) ? In your excellent thread about the mod, you just refer to the change of one banjo bolt (the one that is to the front/top side of the ABS unit). I'm probably missing something very obvious here ...
Was it the battery in keyless fob or the aerial or fob ? 2 weeks seems a long time ...what have you said about that ?
No it needs the whole hands free unit replacing, Ducati are aware of issue, there's a new part. I've said nothing, I'm not fussed it is what it is, theres very little point in getting annoyed the outcome will still be the same, I brought into Ducati fully aware of what can happen, so I'll try and stay positive because when there running right there ain't a better bike out there.
I never had a problem with my hyperstrada so it is a bit annoying that a new bike can have so many problems ,but I still feel that your paying 17.5K the product shouldn't be like that . I've made a complaint so well see what happens . Yes Ducati are a wonderful bike that's why we buy them.
Eventually :Finger:....if you pay well in advance:Yawn:.....they might eventually turn up ......get working, not typing.:Watching:
