Having a bit of bother removing the right handf faring on my 749. removed one at the rear of the faring, 2 D-Zeus on the top, 2 under the belly pan and one at the nose. cant see any more but there's definitely something still holding it in place at the front. Is this just a push fit jobby and i need to give it some elbow pull or will that snap something and i'm missing one?
Yes, there is a fastener at the front, a barb that pushes through a rubber grommet that needs to be carefully separated . I found it easier to pull the rear of the fairing slightly towards the front of the bike using one hand, and then using the other hand pull firmly to separate the barb from the grommet with my fingers. I use a bit of rubber grease on the barb to make assembly/separation easier next time.
Yes, just give a tug to remove. As stated though, apply some grease to the rubber while it's off, more for refitting than removing. It makes it enormously easier
Make sure the bottom two fasteners are in good nick as if they come loose and full out they will head straight into the rear tyre and your fairings will instantly turn into a pair of wings and leave the bike quicker than you can imagine. I've changed mine to M6 bolt and nylon lock nut with large washers. A little awkward to get to but worth it in the long run.
That happened to me it was a bit of a shock and very expensive, I was lucky the faring never got tangled up in the wheel/chain. Guvs.
