Found my domestic hot water not working. Tracked the problem down to a Honeywell electric zone valve. Found a spare zone valve actuator in the cellar, so fitted it. Hot water still not working. At last realised the one in the cellar was not a good spare, but a non-working actuator which I'd replaced on a previous occasion and forgotten about. So all I have achieved is replacing a duff part with another duff part. Now ordered a new one, which I should have done in the first place.
Posted some stuff weeded the front drive with weedol - both hands feel like my clutch hand after a long ride now
Been to castle coombe for the afternoon...took a quick shot of my house (on the right) with the roof back on....joint job with my neighbour....top bloke!
Spent most of the day in my sister's kitchen cobbling together a long run of work surface from 3 different length bits of work top. Heath Robinson would have been proud but sadly feeling quite deflated. I've worn glasses since I was 10, I'm myopic and too short sighted for correction surgey but it doesn't bother me. Anyway, noticed over the last 4 or 5 months that black writing has become more and more out of focus and difficult to read. Finally got my arse down the opticians on Thursday to be told my current glassese are way off. Thought I'd get a second opinion so saw a different optician late yesterday and he confirmed that my left eye was a full dioptic 2 points worse at -9.25 and the change has been caused by a cataract. Was advised not to drive as I'd fail a roadside eye test and to make an appointment to see a specialist as soon as I could. I'm sorry but WTF ! Some don't like spiders or snakes, some confined spaces or heights, me I'm scared s**less about eye surgery when you are awake. I know it's routine today but that doesn't make it pallatable. Week off next week at Centreparcs so I can see a significant amout of beer being consumed. I have been very good of late but I guess I've done something that Fate wants me to pay for. No where near on the same scale as what Jen and others have gone through but I still feel hard done by. Andy
