2006 DUCATI 999S ONLY 301 MILES FROM NEW RS SPEC ROAD RACE SPECIAL | eBay Bit pricey for a (quite tastefully) blinged up S.
Its been very well done but it will always be exactly as you have described . Its worth what someone willl pay . Its never going to be an RS .
Only 300 miles, Marvic wheels, carbon fairings, RS tail + seat, full Leovince exhaust, Brembo billet calipers, RS-look frame, Brembo CNC masters etc. Expensive, but not a totally crazy price.
Cost £39k... has covered 301 miles. That's about £130 per mile... Expensive, even for a Ducati! Somebody must be regretting that decision.
Not sure what the 39k has been spent on...S had Ohlins as standard, so other bits added like carbon fairings, exhaust, titanium bits, new wheels and paint job...engine as standard!...that's all about 8k tops...doesn't mention what else...RS frame/subframe so say 11k. Doesn't add up to me.
Looks like the tank is a carbon fibre 'Kamna' 23 litre item, if so its about £1300 if bought new! Still doesn't add up to mega bucks for the whole package though. And it isn't road legal in UK either, not even for a daytime MOT...no tail/brake light as far as I can tell.
The front fork is not standard Öhlins, that's a WSBK fork which costs a LOT (similar one on eBay). The fairings are genuine RS carbon fairings (confirmed by the seller) and are worth at least 3k£ on their own. Carbon oversized tank, Brembo billet calipers (~1000£), Marvic wheels, modified frame, a new-looking Leovince full exhaust (around 2,5k£ new), CNC masters, mag valve covers, titanium ride height adjuster, etc. And since it's basically a new bike, the price does not sound crazy to me.
that still doesn't equate to 39k though. When I was young and naive...I had a ZX7R and spent 17k on all Hawk Kawasaki parts when they retired their BSB bikes, they were a semi-privateer team based in Colchester, UK. My 7R had all actual racing AP Racing brakes, Ohlins, race wheels, Carbon, RR frame and swingarm, lightweight radiator, exhaust, engine internals, etc, etc. Basically was BSB spec on the road. Whilst not disputing its not a nice bike, the further you take it from standard the less you will gain finacially. I learnt the hard way. ...didn't get a single penny back with only 660 miles on the clock from new when I sold it!
Daytime MOT requires that NO lights whatsoever are fitted, not even a tail/brake light or even a reflector. I will be getting one tomorrow on my 749R track bike. Just a number plate and a cheap bicycle horn.
Tail/brake light is definitely required for a daytime MOT IF the bike is to be used on UK roads ,not sure about track only use. I'm sure there are some knowledgeable MOT types on the forum that will put me straight if I'm wrong.
My Z1 has a brake light with rear reflector, horn and kill switch and starter button - nothing else apart from engine eclectics of course, no tail light. Only has wiring for that mentioned. It ran on a day time MOT when on the road.
It doesn't need an MOT for track use. I have had 3 MOT's done at this garage and I checked with the tester before I did it. He said if I put any kind of lighting on it at all he would fail it. So, I did what I was told and, hey presto, daylight MOT. It appears there may be some regional variations in interpretation of the rules.
There are a few specials on here that have "new" parts costs in excess of 25k, if you add labour, original bike purchase price etc to tht you would have a few specials at 50k +. And those costs not for 1199 wonder projects, but for 748/998/999/749 projets. And I do have first hand knowledge.
