1200 DVT Tomorrow!

  1. Got the phone call yesterday to tell me it's in, as are all accessories.
After a restless night I went to the dealership this morning (got there before the staff!) to sort out odds and sods.......I'll be back there tomorrow to collect it :D.

  2. Excellent. Likewise, my 1200S arrived at Ducati Glasgow on Wednesday. Pick it up tomorrow about 1130-1200. Comes with the touring pack, urban pack, radiator grill and a Scottoiler. Can't wait.

  3. I picked it up this afternoon and, having deposited the panniers (and a few other odds and sods) in the car with my daughter who drove me to the dealership, I took it for a small run. It is now in my garage where I fitted my Garmin using RAM mounts - not very pretty but in the absence of anything else it will have to do for now.
I'm not having much joy getting the heated grips to work; not that they are needed at the moment but they are there so they should work!
I'll give it a longer run tomorrow to test out as many other functions as possible.....and to just have some more fun :)

  4. I picked up mine this afternoon. Rode it home with the panniers and my other accessories fitted and my daughter on the back. Absolutely fantastic to ride. I have had over thirty bikes in my 34 year biking career, including a 1200GS and this is a great all rounder. However, when I got home and parked it in my garage and stood back to admire it, I noted that there was very little space between the right hand pannier heat shield and the upper silencer, so I took the pannier off to check the silencer. What a shock. The heat shield had been rubbing off the brushed finish on the silencer and caused some serious pitting damage to the silencer. I've no doubt that it is covered by warranty but how has this been possible. Is the heat shield not fitted properly or are the rear pegs and mounting points out of line? It is going back to the dealer on Tuesday, so hopefully there is an easy solution.

  5. That's not good :Bawling:

  6. HMM not rode mine with panniers at all, even when picked bike up they were in a box and taken home in car, although we did fit them to bike tomake sure, and Rob showed me who to fit etc. (after I mentioned a few had broken he insisted we try them) Keep us informed please

  7. What a pain. I'm sure it will all get sorted for you.

  8. That's very strange...? I'm sure you will get that soughted under warranty

  9. Just a question but is it possible that the pannier was mounted without the lower mount being engaged in the correct place. i.e inside the rubber block instead of over it? just a thought.

  10. It was mounted correctly by the sales exec over the rubber block. There was only about 5 - 10 mm gap between the heat shield and the silencer, so with the suspension moving around the heat shield was pressing into the silencer. I was in touring mode with the correct rider/passenger configuration.

  11. That is the pannier mounted properly on the rubber block etc. there is only 2 - 3 mm between the heat shield and the silencer. I think the silencer isn't mounted correctly. It will get sorted on Tuesday.

  13. Yip. White walls, three layers of ex lounge carpets over the past 16 years, chairs, sound system and a GREAT BIG FRIDGE FULL OF ICE COLD BEERS!!! Braw

  14. Oh. Also including an immaculate BMW R1200r Classic

  15. are you sure the scratches on the silencer are caused by the panniers? to me It looks like something else

  16. Yes - l
Agree - Looks like spark erosion as if there has been some electrical arcing onto the exhaust

Maybe lots and lots of static??
