Welcome, I have previously owned 2 air cooled multi's, and the first thing to say is they are the best kept secret in motorcycling. Looks like a ? from the front, but I think from the side it's quite good looking. Handles like a sports bike, and will surprise quite a few in the right hands. Comfy, decent tourer too. The finish you see in the photo's above is in no way representative of this make and model...I've seen rice burners look that bad when not looked after, so don't worry bout it. It is true however that Ducati engine paint is not as good as other makes. My 1100s Multi had done 15,000 miles by the time I sold it, and there was only one or two small flaky bits, which were touched up with paint from RS paints. Fuel tanks can expand, creating leaks, and the rollover valve int he fuel tank can stick stopping fuel and air from moving between the tanks freely. Symptoms include fuel light on showing empty, and it will only take 10 litres or so when it should take 17+. Always fuel up slowly. Gauges can steam up a bit...do your best to keep dry. Bag it up when washing. Best tip I can give you is look up www.multistrada.net Great site, very busy and a wealth of experience. Enjoy. It's a great, great bike. Bob
Thanks Bob . Am taking it on a day by day basis . Thanks for the help and advice . Many thanks , Ian ,
i had one for 5 years only just part ex'd it this year on a 1200. i loved it to bits try to keep clocks away from heavy rain and keep the earth cable area clean and wd'd, its in a silly place and gets loads of crude on it .. i proper ragged mine tours around Scotland and wales and it never let me down. i miss it. rotate the belts if you leave it for long periods and they last a lot longer than the book suggests
Very interesting . \The belts haven't been changed for three years , but the bike hasn't even done a thousand miles in that time .
