Stainless Brake Caliper Bolts Or Not ?

  1. Hi Gang

First post so be gentle with me

Question is ::: are stainless caliper bolts safe??
i ordered some a2-7 stainless M10 x 35's , and then done the dreaded google search, lots of people are saying NO DONT USE THEM very loudly, all down to the then possibly shearing, and after doing a Sete Gibernau and flipping the bike over forwards doing about 40mph, talk about stopping on a sixpence!! when the sticky front pad decided it wanted to lock on, full flip of the bike landed on its wheels and shot of up the road about 100ft and something that resembled a 'Triple Lindy' (google it :) ) from me, i dont fancy the prospect of my front brakes failing me again
so with that in mind i also ordered some a4-8 M10 x 35 which will be going on the bike instead, as the graph shows they are closer to the 8.8 i took of, next one, hi tensile you can torque up as it stretches when you do, but its a one time usage right ?? how much torque do i do the stainless ones?? as they dont have that luxury of stretch

    all the best
    Colin

  9. AirCon isn't just for CHRISTMAS!

  10. I've run A2 in my brakes on several different bikes without any issues. Many a customer have to. Yes, technically they're not to spec of the originals, but I'd use them again if needed to.
I've torqued them all to stock 43Nm.
