My 2013 848 Evo is due its second year (was technically due in January) service, so belts and as it's now at 7,400 miles, so valve clearences as well. Any recommendations for dealers/specialists in the South East. I live in Locksbottom (between Bromley and Orpington if that helps) so the local dealer is Ducati Croydon, but I'm not a million miles from P&H Crawley, Laguna Performance in Ashford and Pro Twins in Godstone. While it's in, I'd quite like to see if I can borrow an 899 if possible, as it is looking like a possibility in the nearish future... Any ideas on cost? I think I'm also getting close to needing a rear tyre, so what are the preferred option - not really liking the Dunlops that are on there at the moment
I'll be looking for an independent to do my multi (I'm South East too). P&H seemed on the ball with heir tech guys but being as large as they are I can imagine them to be on the higher end of the price spectrum. Rear tyre wise, when I had my 848 it was Pirelli supercorsa all the way. I don't look anywhere other than Pirelli now. Dunlops are utter crap in my opinion but I hear good things about metzeler
To say P&H are high end on pricing is an understatement. Popped in to see them today, they quoted £850, but said to expect more like £900 to £950 if all valves need adjustment - to put that into perspective, Pro Twins quoted a "back of a fag packet" £600-£650 while Laguna have quoted a worst case £590 if all valves need adjustment, but to "expect more like £550" I appreciate P&H are quite big and have a big workshop, but at a worst case of nearly £400 more expensive, coupled with a loan bike (an ER6F) at 12p per mile, a 5 week lead time and needing the bike for 3 days, the phrase "taking the piss" springs to mind. As for Pro Twins, I really felt like I was causing them an issue just being there, although I'm sure from other stuff I've read on here, they do a great job. I did ask Laguna for an 899, but they said they only had one demo and it couldn't be used for long term service loans, but did offer a test ride and asked if "a multistrada would be ok?" I've booked in for the 24th, dropping the 848 off on the 23rd and can collect on either Friday night or Saturday morning "if that suits me better" they also said that if I picked it up on Saturday they'd have more time to make sure it was clean. Now just a decision on tyres to make - any more suggestions?
I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for my servicing then. At my mileage rate I'll be needing a 15k service every year [emoji51] I am surprised to find a user called superhoop, asking advice on which hoops are in fact super [emoji6]
