1200 DVT Dash Screen Vulnerable To Scratches?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by tobers, May 24, 2015.

  1. I,ve just gone to Amazon to buy a screen protector for the dash and they are no longer available through Amazon or the dealer.

Anyone know of any other site that sells them or anyone got one they can sell to me.

    Cheers

  2. its so difficult to cut and apply and screen protection product which isn't design for this speedo. i done it but i hope ducati will come up with something better

  3. When I was in my dealership last week the service guy said there was talk from Ducati UK that there is gonna be a recall for the screens.
Also there are quite a few software updates and bug fixes coming soon
Let's hope it's done sooner rather than later

  4. Krumper, see if you can get that in writing ;)

  5. @Pete1950 mine should be here for Sept reg so when you find them, stick them aside :upyeah:

  6. I mentioned in an earlier post that I'd contacted 3M - this was their response:

Unfortunately we do not provide bespoke filters or screen protectors outside of our core range, so we wouldn’t have anything which would be sized correctly.
We do have a solution for iPad which in theory would be possible to cut to size, however I do not believe it would be suitable for use in inclement weather.
So unfortunately I don’t think we are going to have a solution for you.

So, unless Ducati come up with a solution themselves, we may have to rely on a third party to produce model specific screen protection.

  7. Pick my MTS up next week hopefully.... I've got a couple of packs of a product called "Crystalusion" which is supposed to provide a coating as hard as gorilla glass once cured. I'll be giving it a go as soon as I get the bike so I'll report back. At a few quid a pop it's worth a shot.

It's designed for smartphones which get much more contact than a set of clocks so hopefully it might do the job.

Just need to make sure the carrier solvent is safe with plastic, but it appears to be ethanol based so should be ok.

  8. Please let us know if it works. I ruined the screen protector in one week and I had to remove it, my display is now all scratched..
    Thanks!

  9. Had a half-day test ride of a demo bike this week. 4K on the clock and the dash looked like it had been wiped with 40's grit!
I own a Panigale 1199, I'm certain that the screen material is the same. I can only surmise that the Multi screen gets wet (because it is ridden in the wet, and because the screen is more open to the elements) so rider decides to wipe the screen with gloved hand...
I wipe the Panigale dash with freshly-washed terry cloth and haven't suffered for it, yet!

  10. Stop touching your screens.

  11. DavidK, I totally agree. NEVER touched the dash on my 1199 BUT a Multi DVT S is intended for all-season, all-weather use. So rain on the dash is guaranteed... It will be like never wiping the rain off your visor... eeko_O

  12. Any bike should be for all weather / season use.

  13. Use a microfibre cloth and coat it with a hydrophobic solution.

I coat my visor with Gtechniq G1 and I never need to wipe it. I'm probably going to do the same with my DVT's screen when it finally arrives.

  14. Just looked up this product and video instructions: Gtechniq - G1 ClearVision Smart Glass - Clean Your Car
    I'll get some, makes Rain-X look antiquated:Dead:

  15. Is it suitable for plastic ? Some of the glass products end up turning plastic a "milky" colour after prolonged use.

  16. If the dash surface proves defective, Ducati will no doubt replace it FOC under warranty or goodwill. But if you have already coated the surface with some unapproved substance, they might refuse. I suggest thinking carefully before proceeding.

  17. Bloody good point.

  18. +1

  19. That being said, I've used it on my C3 Pro without issue.

My daily is an E39 M5 and I've been using GTechniq products on it for years without issue.

  20. Nice motor.. Thirsty.
