Struggling to settle which road bike to buy. I have a 1098s for the days I feel the need to play WSB hero I have a gsxr600 that I race I am now looking at something for the road that will provide me with a buzz while not being an out and out superbike. Also need something for the vary occasional pillion (wife) but equally still able to give grin factor when solo. So far I have tested the monster 1200s and the BMW S1000r, both are good but different bikes, the latter is a potential "instant ban for you sonny" with missile speeds, the duke is cool but low down fuelling feels ..well crap! Booked a ride on the multistrada but worried that means I am getting old... Wishing I hadn't sold the Hyper SP.... Whats the street fighter like? Any other suggestions for me to consider?
Go for the multi does it matter that your getting old 40 is the new 30 and if it means you get what you need then go for it Now if you had said gold wing that's a different story that's old
I've got a s1000r and it's ace, surprisingly good at distance rides as I went to the nordschleife on it a few weeks back and had no complaints even though I have the small rizoma screen. Handles amazing and engine is sublime That said I'd still take a multistrada as a bike, maybe not in place of the bmw but there's nothing wrong with them and they can be ridden hard like a big supermoto, I'm considering taking out the dvt soon and if the Mrs gets her say I think she'd prefer that.
Every sportsbike/supernaked rider should have an adventure style bike as well. The modern breed - MTS, GS1200, KTM 1190 etc. are all brilliant bikes. All of them go like stink and all of them are comfortable, easy to ride and will seriously rattle a sportsbike on a twisty road. Keep your lairy bike and get one of these as well and far from getting old you'll be doubling your annual biking miles.
I don't think you would be disappointed with a Multi if you enjoyed the Hyper. It isn't a sportsbike but does have sportsbike power and massive mid range shove.
Yup...The multi intrigues me....although it's not the best looking thing in the world though! I think I'd rather have a hyper 1100sp though or even 990 smr. ....
KTM 990 SMR. I had one, still would if it hadn't been stolen. Even though I love the multi an SMR rode past me in London the other day and I had a pang of jealousy. One bike, I'd stick with the multi but with your collection I'd get an SMR and probably ride it more than the others.
As much as I like the hyper's in all fairness all reviews I've read have always pitched the 990 just above the hyper...However I've had 2 hyper's so far and loved them both...
Had my SMR on track and it just came into its own (especially round a track like brands). I was told to actually ease up in corners and let the sports bikes have them because the difference in corner speed was immense. Later in the evening a guy came to find out what brakes I had on it as he couldn't work out why he couldn't brake as late with his race spec brembo's. The most awesome bike I've had.
Not personally but my mate has a 1200 which he loves. It's a big bike though...I'm tip toes on it. Very fast....last year went we went to castle Coombe I was gunning the hyper to stay with him...
If someone told you to ease up and let sports bikes go...hoping you went even faster especially past whoever said it, nice block pass would be good For hooning the multi wont tick the same box as a big SM, too heavy and wide imho. But for one bike does 90% of everything well, thats a multi
Mate has the 750 and loves it but it's his first bike. But he has not felt the need to swap since buying it new 4 years back. I think it's one of the better looking bikes of that type. I love the idea of KTMs and what they are but struggle with the looks.
It was a black flag situation. Any more sitting people up in corners and I'm going home. I took it a lot easier up until the last session when I went for it. It was a damp first session and I didn't have a single rider pass me, it was that confidence inspiring. Once it dried up it was a bit different [emoji31]
