1299 1299s Hesitation @5k?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Chillo, Jul 7, 2015.

  1. Just had my first service this morning.
I've been taking it steady the last 600 miles obviously using 1/4 throttle and up to 6/7k rpm mostly.
Now opening it up giving it WOT and notice it's a bit hesitant around 5k at times!
    Anyone else got this?
I understand it's probably emissions/noise related so will probably require an up map and/or a bit of Dynojet time to dial out.

  2. Exhaust flapper valve sticking , get your dealer to permanently lock wire it in the open position you'll have no more hesitation

  3. Thanks! Will look into to it see if I can do that myself (it's a 120 mile round trip to dealer!) :(
It was really noticeable at Cadwell tonight! Felt very snatchy/hesitant around 5-6k!
Apart that the bike is amazing! Was reeling off 1.40s dead even with traffic!
55deg on the lean angle :)
More to come when I get it dialled in and some racetec's on it!
    I love this bike!
Had it set to fixed suspension, dtc1 and it was perfect.

  4. 120 mile round trip to my dealer is well lol. I bloody hate that m25.

  5. What's the exhaust flapper thingy for??..... genuine question.

  6. The EU to lower noise and emissions i think?, i disconnected my 1198 valve and put a plate on which was perfect, if i get and problems with my 1199s i may do the same, i know when you are steady at around 3k in second my pipes are really quiet then all hell lets loose when you hit the gas:upyeah:

  7. If you're feeling a bit flush, replace the silencers with the Termi's and get the big-bore ( may not need it on the 1299 ) down-pipes fitted. You'll need it Up-Mapped at the same time. It completely transforms the bike on the 1199 I got, so should be a good upgrade on the new model too. Exhaust valves on these are just to pass the EU Drive-By regs and mean nothing once it's road registered. The exhaust must not leak for MoT, but noise is NOT tested.

  8. Exhaust noise level is not measured for an MOT but can be an advisory or even failed at the discretion of the tester if he deems it too loud. I know this as I've had one failed on my old aprilia as I forgot to put in the baffles for the test and had to go back for a retest :(

  9. Like I said, pick your tester carefully !

  10. I've not noticed the hesitation at 5k on mine but I'll look out for it tonight as I'm off for a blast for sure. :upyeah:

  11. Do the akrapovic cans replace this valve?

I remember my old 2000 R1 had continuing problems with its EXUP valve. Fecking nuisance.

  12. Full system does , slip on doesn't

  13. You can remove cable from flapper end on side of pipework so leaving the flapper motor at front plugged in so system still things its working ;)

Remove cable from holder by remving the 2 Circlips, then pull away from holder so can get enough slack to remove the end from the flapper puller circle thingy(Thats the technical word for it don't ya know)

  14. I'll ask my Moto Rapido to do it for me when they fit my akras.
