Hi All, as much as I love my 1199 I have never ever ridden it to its full potential and struggle to really match its offering as a superbike, in the past I had 748,s 749, 848 etc and rang their necks pretty much and got a massive smile all the time on my face. Although I have been riding for 30 years or more I have always preferred mid size bikes and common sense tells me to try the 899 on a test ride. I bought 1199s in 2013 and have always admired it more than enjoyed it if that makes sense. It would be good to hear from others if they have taken this decision? Cheers Mill.

Yeh I'm just about to downgrade. I've ridden a 899 on a test ride but not for more than a hour. Picking my 899 up Friday all being well. I felt the same that the 1199 wasn't fun enough at normal speeds. Let's see how the 899 is. People who have them rave about them. If I don't like it I'll swap it again for another bike. No idea what though.
My decision was forced though as my 1199 is a write off. Not sure if I'd of swapped yet or not if that hadn't of happened.
I have both...... forever hitting the rev limiter on the 899. 1199 has 3300 miles on it, 899 has 1700, both the same age...... tells its own story.
From my test rides, it has to be said the 899 is a pure fun bike. I would imagine a majority would be quicker on that than on an 1199.
.....really. 1199 is 2kg lighter, can carry just as much corner speed and is going to get there way before the 899......just saying... oh, did I mention the brakes. Keep up...
