1199 Throttle 'play' Or Slack.

  1. I don't like any play or movement on my throttle, is there a fix or any way to remove that little bit of movement / play on the throttle? I do track days and find the throttle very light and unnerving to have that play mid corner.

  2. yes, ebay spacers, but very fiddly to fit, dont attempt unless you are good at fixing watches :upyeah:

  3. link?

  4. This question has been answered in a different context in the past, already. If memory serves me, the bike needs to go to the dealer who can reset where the starting point is on the throttle potentiometer. This is a software edit, so not one you can do with a screwdriver. Only on blooming eBay will you find WASHERS, for pities sake, to mechanically try to fix a software adjustment !!!

  5. On the 999, a common mod is to replace the standard throttle tube with one to fit a Yamaha R1.
The idea is to reduce the required twist for a given throttle opening. On my bike it also eliminated any play

  6. Um, was this other bike 'fly by wire' ?

  7. It uses a tps but there is a cable. Is there no cable at all on the 1199?

  8. You are correct in your supposition.... there isn't any throttle cable on the 1199, just an angle sensor on the throttle itself. Not unlike a TPS, but not at the actual throttle. The throttle is actuated by a stepper-motor, which allows the various throttle responses to function (soft, fast, etc). As I suggested before, the starting point needs setting in the 'brain' at the point it actually starts to move, so that the perceived 'slack' is dialled out.
