I see there is one thread on this already from 2014 but wondering how many others had same issue. Marzocchi forks on my 2012 1199 have lost rebound damping. Luckily I took out the extended warrenty so getting them replaced a friend had exactly same issue and had his replaced Makes me wonder if replacement ones will also become defective
'Knackered' doesn't tell you what went wrong with the internals. It would be interesting to find out exactly what failed and if it was terminal or just an easy fix. My bike got the electric Ohlins on it, which are not the preferred option of trackday riders I am informed. Your forks are lighter and, once adjusted to the occasion, are actually better at the job. I suppose that a good set up will always beat the 'one size fits all' of self adjusting systems because they are always catching up with the game rather than pre-set to perfection.

I think its the other way round. The cycle part is booming and the motorcycle division has gone pop. The End of Marzocchi Suspension is Nigh?
Ahh you could be right. I bet the cycle side isn't far behind though as they aren't a big player now in cycle suspension. Can't remember the last set of marzocchi forks I saw apart from the ones hanging on my wall from the year 2000
Ah Nev, I was parked next to you in the garage at Silverstone with my 749/999. Have you got your forks sorted?
Hi Martin - Ah so now I can see what you do when your working nights !! Rang the parts guy at the dealers and yes he has them on order, so that's a relief. Booked it for next Friday for them to be fitted under warrantee, so hopefully all ok. I asked the JHP guys at Silverstone about the fault. Apparently is occured on quite a few earlier 1199s, he explained a nut works loose on the damping rod causing loss of damping. They haven't had to do any later bikes so hopefully Marzocchi have sorted the defect out and it won't reoccur on the new forks. Especially as the warrantee runs out end of August. btw - really enjoyed Silverstone, still buzzing. Have you looked at the Pics yet ? - I'm number 51, what number were you ?
Not so sure about that. MZs still the preferred fork for downhillers and extreme mountain bike stuff, the 888 are great forks. Having said that I bought a set of MZ forks for my mountain bike and they broke first time out
Every DH bike I ever see has Boxxers usually but I don't pay lots of attention as DH bikes aren't the big market that trail bikes are nowadays. A 6 inch travel bike will ride 99% of UK stuff. Pikes are most people's favourite at 150-160mm or fox maybe but I don't know anyone who has MZ forks or shocks.
I've had mz trple 8s and those were bullit proof, now i've boxxer and i see a lot of them with problem in oil retainers
