not really mate, it would have to be special for me to get rid of the 1198, i like the raw power without any electrical gizmos. but i am going to test ride a 1299 next month.
If you feel the 1199 is just too fast to have fun on, the 899 will answer your prayers. Almost everyone gives it huge praise for it's ability to do 99% of the 1199's tricks without the fear factor. If on the other hand it isn't so much the speed, but more the awkwardness the 1199 displays, go for the 1299. They have smoothed things out very nicely and made it a much more rewarding experience for normal riders (those without Rossi as a surname).
Went from 899 to 1299. Finding the 1299 more comfortable on long rides, better brakes, power is more easily accessible, quick shifter amazing; can't stop riding it.
I had the 848 Evo (2011) traded in for 899 after having the evo for 3yrs, 899 lacks the mid range grunt that the 848 had, the 899 is nice to ride but unfortunately I missed the grunt and swapped it in for the 1199s I have no regrets what so ever, mind you I did bag a 2013 Evo corse Se in March this year as I missed my old one so much My advice is get a decent 848 SE corse, has QS and TC
No way mate, I luv my 1199 its fierce. I don't know what everyone is moaning about with the 1199 to quote another poster "but more the awkwardness the 1199 displays" dunno what awkwardness they are talking about I find mine to be very manageable even at low speeds
I know were your coming from , i have a 748s and a 1098s and i do enjoy ringing the neck off the 748 but still like having the extra power on the 1098 so i think what you need to do is keep the 1199 and pick up a cheap 748 for a bit of fun.......Sorted
I'm seriously thinking of changing my white 64 plate 899 (900 miles) for a red 1199.... anyone interested in a swap to cut out the middle man making £1500 (min) for zero work????
