I'd say rider is both relieved to be unharmed and in shock. I've reacted in the same way when tail-ended by a RAV4 whilst stationary.
The sensor technology is very good these days. Maybe its time for all HGV,s to be fitted with them especially on the blind spots. Maybe a few cyclists would be saved that way too. They are cheap enough these days.
It's seems drivers don't care what they do anymore and either forget or just can't be bothered to look for other road users Thankfully the old lady with the buggy wasn't crossing the road he wouldn't have seen her either
I did love the old ladies moment of confusion as to wether the rider, or the baby should be attended too.
Which would have put him in a dangerous situation with regard to the rear wheels. Maybe making a lot of noise through those Termis might have helped, working on the assumption that the driver was not deaf as well as blind.
I would've dragged that driver out of his cab and giving him a right good kicking!!!unch:unch:unch::Rage::Rage::Rage:
Exactly what I was thinking, however you would like to think if it was you sitting there, you'd see a lorry taking the turn very wide and prepare to move just in case!!
That type of thing nearly happened to me once. I stopped well behind the give way lines as I had already seen the lorry approaching from the left and wanted to give him space. He turned into my road and would have flattened me if I hadn't anticipated and back-pedalled out the way. If I hadn't stopped so far back in the first place, I'd have been roadkill. He had cut the corner so that the width of the lorry took up the entire road, both lanes. Fair enough but he hadn't slowed down to perform the manoeuvre, he was doing about twenty mph the entire time. I turned the bike around and caught up with the lorry driver but couldn't get him to stop. Obviously, as I'm on a bike and he's sitting in ten tonnes of lorry. This was before the term "road rage" had been invented but wow, was I in a rage or what. I reported his registration to the cops but obviously, with no witnesses, nought ever happened. With fuck-off big lorry comes fuck-off big responsibility.
