Well, as soon as id read the report I was on my way up to Riders in Bristol (on the lookout for another duc at the moment) and asked the sales blokey what he thought on the report....he took a quick look at the webpage (visor down) and said - he'd heard nothing concrete and only heresay, but the "Offroad Multi" was the one he'd heard the most - sadly for me he'd not heard anything about a new SF.... And just for the record my hope would be a 1299 SF - id loose my zed and the rsv4 for that pup....
Yup, this is my hope too but I'm betting on an 899 uplift or new bike in the 'Scrambler'/lifestyle bike range; a new revision of the PS perhaps.
Yeah - but ive go no one else to talk to...... In fact - no one else will listen to me waffle on about bikes in general....if I mention anything bike related at home the wife's eyes just glaze over...or, I get told to "shut the fuck up..."
Why would they stop taking orders for the 899 if the replacement is for anything but a new 899? (sorry if it's already been discussed?)
I do think they will update the body to match the 1299, Ducati's have always mirrored the bigger bike. That isn't worthy of a track launch so I agree maybe a street fighter etc, even so it's worth waiting at least until announcements to see if there is a deal to be had on a current one if there are some in dealers
I think that the track launch would be justified by revised electronics, suspension, slight displacement change, etc. They still did a track launch of the 1299 which was basically a revised 1199 did they not? Just my thoughts, could be way off the mark...
Yeah but I hope no capacity change, they must have some room to move in terms of tuning the standard 898cc twin, slight increase in valve size and compression for example? I think it will have some mild engine work and the downshift blipper, and cornering ABS. All those things would keep it inline with the 'Evo' philosophy but hopefully wouldn't add a lot to production costs.
Yeah, that's the sorts of things I had in mind in terms of added electronics too. Since people seem to dislike the lack of grunt in the midrange I don't know if they'd just add a few extra cc's to make a difference? But I'd be happy with the capacity staying the same, especially if the electronics changes could be retrofitted to the 'standard' bike!
Isn't the factory closed at this time of year, or doesn't production stop for 3 weeks at most Italian factories?
Don't know but doesn't sound like they've stopped taking orders for anything else from the sounds of things?
I think they stop for 2 fucking months at aprilia last year as it took me 3 months to get some rocker covers....and they wonder why the economy is in the toilet...actually I tell a lie....I ordered 2 rocker covers which took 2 months to turn up and in fact when they did only 1 turned up...and then another 3 months for the "other" rocker cover....
Just got back from a week of 39 degress in Italy and it gets hotter in August I can't blame them for shutting down as it's way to hot to do anything but look at the girls in Bikinis!
