Hi from NZ. Can anyone tell me if you have fitted a 2013/14 Top Box to the new DVT. I understand from previous threads that you need a new Top Plate etc and I have been given the Part No. for this (96729503B) $410.00 nz ex Italy etc etc. Question, does the 2013/14 Top Box fit this new plate and do you also need the two support bars/legs that were necessary for the previous model. Any help or advice would be welcome. Cheers NZ GREG
You do need the support barsl/legs for the dvt but from experience you can only buy theses as part of the urban pack and not as separate items, otherwise we would all be using our existing top boxes, Ducati would rather shaft use by forcing us to spend more money, you can use the older top box as I use mine rather than the silver one.
Thanks Franksie I thought the whole Urban Pack thing had to include the Top Box when purchasing the bike at least over here that is. Was told to hold onto my 2013 Top Box to save some money when buying the new DVT etc good advice but .......
My dealer looked the bars and plate up for me last week. The kit including fixings is about £120 inc VAT
Franksie, your comment about not needing the support bars has me intrigued. I only put the top box assembly on when the wife joins me and I find fitting the support bars fiddly and time consuming but have always done it through fear of the rear assembly not getting the necessary support and cracking the standard hand rail unit that its all bolted to. Are you saying you have tried the top box assembly without the support bars and found no problem and if so was this with or without a pillion putting pressure on the top box ??
Hi DDDD, Franksie said you do need them. I have to have a topbox for my wife as she has no strengh in her arm due to B/Cancer etc so its a permanent fitment.
Intrigued that Meds has been given a price for a DVT support and bars only, if that's the case I,ve been well screwed by my dealer, that's all I wanted to buy so I could use my existing top box but no I had to spend over £450 to get the top box as well Grrrrr
When I picked my bike on 1st June they said I could only buy the complete kit but I went in there on Friday, he got everything up on the computer itemised with price list. I'm going to place an order tomorrow so will let you know how I get on
When I collected mine a few weeks ago, the dealer had a top box kit on the shelf.......no need for the total urban kit. I managed to get the top box thrown into the deal....that was here in France but it should be the same everywhere.
Thanks Guys, I will have another go at my dealer as we have only been given a price for Mounting Plate minus the leg braces. Would appreciate if you could let me know how you get on Meds and if posibble Part No's ? Cheers
The plate looks the same , but the fixings are totally different, screwed from underneath to compress against the rear rail rather than screwed from above to rest on the rear rail.
Think quite a few of us got screwed on that one... told me it wouldn't fit, I thought it would have to be the same though......bishhhhh..... £450 I could have spent on summut else......bishhhh
Just ordered a kit minus top box, I was told the top plate is different from previous. I've already been quoted about £120, and couldn't be arsed to go through it all on the phone as its a bit long winded being all separate, so when I get the invoice I'll report back
The topbox is i think identical for both bikes as is the support plate that mounts to the bike. What is different is the way the mounting plate fits to the bike.
