Dodgy Bloke!

  1. Been out for a ride today with the missus and was on my way home when I passed a guy on a KTM Adventure. I nodded as I passed him and then carried on my way.
A little further down the road, I noticed that he was still behind me but thought nothing of it, however, the nearer I got to home the more I felt that he was following me.

As I stopped to turn off the main road down towards home, he pulled up behind me but just to my left so I couldn't see him in my mirror, a little odd I thought.
I turned and he followed so I pulled up outside the shops a few hundred yards away from my street and he stopped next to me and started saying 'Nice bike mate' etc. 'yes it is' I said, then 'can I do something for you?' At which point he looked at me strangely and rode off, turned around and rode back the way he'd come from.

Am I just being paranoid, or would you say he was trying to see where I lived? Has this happened to any of you guys or girls?
It seemed very odd to me, it's not something I'd ever think of doing, following someone just to tell them they had a nice bike! Or maybe he was just a bit of an oddball!

  4. Visors up and a chat at the lights...but to follow and act odd would worry me too!
Nice move not to let him see where you live!

  5. I should be so lucky :Sorry:

I think it's dodgy did you clock his reg and maybe report to the local police station

  6. Was his bike towing a caravan?

  8. I get that all the time but not while I'm on the bike :Wideyed:

  9. I only clocked part of his reg, could well be false anyway if he's a tea leaf. I thought about reporting it but I'm sure the fuzz wouldn't be interested, unless of course he was speeding! :Banghead:

  10. Tell them you have seen it acting suspiciously and your worried about him casing Ducati bikes

  11. dont leave your bike on the drive for a while in case he is cruising the area either for your bike or your arse ?

  12. Welcome to the world of Diavel owners, constantly followed by strange leather clad men whilst grooming around the roads of Surrey and Wimbledon.

  15. Best thing is you were aware and that you didn't ride to your house with him in tow.

  16. Not that I'm all that old (41), but years ago no one would have thought too much of this sort of thing. He would be thought of as a fellow biker who'd seen a rare and nice bike and just wanted to have a closer look out of interest and friendliness. Unfortunately these days you can't really trust anyone. In the same way if a stranger suddenly starts talking to you at random you automatically become a bit wary even if it's just good natured chit chat. Shame the worlds come to this.

  17. Agree with above, have been on the receiving end twice of follow home theft, van and car,so I am always over cautious ,if he was following you for a unscrupulous reason you would not know he was following you, guess he just wanted to talk bikes.

Whilst over on the KTM forum another rider posts ..............I was out riding and heading home when I came across a red Ducati with a pillon who just happened to be heading my way. I stopped at the local shops and so did he. I said Nice bike Mate and he mumbled something. Then he asked if he could do something for me? I'm not into that kind of thing so I buggered off smartish.

  19. Or the BMW forum.....
Saw a red Italian thing today, didn't get far, just to the local shops. Tried to see if he needed any help, but he thought I'd broken down....And we can't be having that.

  20. I know that it is ten years since I left the UK but I didn't realise that it was a crime to use the same road as another biker now!
