hi everyone.; so I go to my bike this morning and I can see it's trying to start but it doesn't manage. led panel turns on fine but the engine just doesn't start. this is a 7 months old bike! after I tried a few times the panel still lights up ok but the software starts "resetting" itself and the engine doesn't even try anymore to turn on. my bike has biketrac and I checked online the last reading is still 11.4 so it's not flat... any suggestions?
things go wrong the low battery could be down to how many times you tried to start it. does it have the servo start? how many times did it cycle before nothing. the leads thing was just a wee joke although probably worth while anyway.
I noticed it has a bit of trouble starting up lately. this morning it cycled maybe 2/3 times before literally doing nothing. called Ducati assistance and they are coming tonight. still I never had a problem with my monster and I was using it with the same frequency as the hyper....
new battery or full charge required. that's what your warranty is for. noticed this when working in dealer ships. if you gonna have gremlins it's always in the first couple of years.
sure thing. it is booked for the first service on the 22nd anyway... I have a quick list of things and this is the newest addition
Yeah true there!! Now you mention it,they never charge the batteries properly when they PDI the bikes to start with!!
thanks it is... also my dealer is quite out of the way (W M Snell) so I need to get the battery at least half-fixed before even managing to get there
servo start (think thats what it's called) just press the start button once and it will operate the starter for a pre determined time. yip battery charge is crucial if it sits with a half charge for any length of time no average amount of running will bring it up to full. well if 12.3 is a half charge probably about there.
First service? If you've done 600 miles in 7 months its likely the battery needs a good charge and the bike needs a long run
I know... I haven't used it much unfortunately and I mainly use it in town... still.... based on like for like conditions my monster never had this problem
I would guess the Monster is a simpler beast and is therefore less likely to be draining the battery while just sitting there. As has been said, once a battery has been damaged by being left in a discharged state for any length of time, you'll never bring it back to where it was. On my bike the clue is in the clock. If you lose the clock setting while trying to start the bike, that's when it's time for a new battery
