I get a few guys asking me " so how's the Duke coming on then? " in reference apparently to my DUCATI rebuild project.. God it really annoys me, yet I'm not really sure why! I think it's that when I think of the word I associate it with Britian and the great Geoff Duke, nothing against him the legend that he most certainly is.. But, we are talking italian art form here and the label Duke does not sit or hang well for me... KTM are welcome to it.. What say you guys? NOODS ...
Keep spannering and don't worry about. No different from referring to Kwaks, Yams and Suzies. I thing of it as Duc rather than Duke, which as you say is a KTM - though pronounced the same. People always abbreviate things and use nicknames. That's life. Not worth getting hung up about it.
You get no arguement from me, it's a Ducati. Being an ex Subaru Imprezza driver, I also object to the term Scooby but then I'm a grumpy old git. Andy
My mates always say 'how's that Italian piece of shit going?'!!! But as mines a Hypermotard,I just laugh in their faces and tell them I'll wave bye bye to them on the inside of the next bend!! I refer to mine as the HM.
or HM Her Majesty? i wont say what the fugly was called before i got to the bottom of the intermittent non start issue i had from the day i picked it up. for two years i called it ...t. Doh i just told ya!.
Good call, not hung up about it as such, Ducati rolls off the tongue, Duke dosn't .. Michael Angelo I'm sure would feel the same about his Sistine chapel.. If someone asked who painted that ceiling and someone replied.."Mick the italian painter and decorator" it would be a crime .. Art deserves better surely...
Slower than I would like.. Mrs Noodles keeps finding tasks for me to do.. Extensions patios and fences etc.. I think she's more than happy seeing my beloved packed in boxes... X
know what you mean as it can confuse things, could have even thought you were talking about John Wayne. Still better than being referred to as a tractor I guess
fuck y'all. I have a 390 Duke.... it's worthy of the name all by itself ! you should be proud not ashamed
Don`t care what its called as long as it is beautiful, goes like stink, handles and stops superbly. Oh, and I can afford it.
You must have desired a Ducati though, but just had to make do with a KTM.. Or why else would you be on here lol.. X
He has s Ducati too Next you will be debating if it's pronounced Doocati or Duecati or Jewcati All of a sudden we've gone a bit VW..
It's pronounced however us Brits decide, in whichever of our dialects we choose, even cockyknee - we won
