Looking to find an extender for my rear brake pedal as there is times i cant get my foot turned in enough to get on it properly, due to a bad leg,it has become more off an issue,so i hope someone can point me in the right direction,or id buy a second hand brake pedal and mod it with a bit off tig work Cheers
I have the same issue. I find I can't rotate my ankle inwards enough to get a decent purchase on the pedal. I keep meaning to try and fabricate an extender, maybe after I get back from my holiday. If anyone has the skills to make something, I would be interested in purchasing one. Deaks
I beg to differ John. I had the peg cut off and welded higher on a spare damaged pedal that I had. I have also fitted SBS pads and bleed nipples at the ABS unit. I can now engage the ABS without difficulty. It still doesn't do much braking but that's more to do with weight transfer than the brake's efficiency.
Now that looks like it would work fine Derek, a good job well done mate. Have been scouring the net inc the Tourtech site, cannot find any rear brake extender at all. The pedal as is just not under foot, a right leg in-turn (well for me anyhow) is required....always!. Efficiency of the back brake is neither here nor there if, in an emergency situation it`s not to....er foot Lol!. Plenty around for sale for Bmw`s,Tenere`s,Ktm`s,etc just bugger all for the mts!.Frustrating!.
I have a CNC racing brake pedal, its got an adjustable toe peg, and is a much better feel than the original And you can get different toe pegs to suit your style I also found I was turning my right foot in before this mod, no problems now
I am another one that would buy a brake pedal extender if it was available, as the pedal is not where I need it to be in a emergency.
Just in case a solution has been found.......... Just bought a MTS1200S and today I went out for a ride for the first time. The first thing I noticed is exactly the same thing - pedal is too much to the left. You need to "look" for it with the foot. Any news on this issue?
I had a mutley and I don't have issues turning my foot in but I still found it really awkward to use.
@Derek - Derek a question re: your brake mod. I managed to buy a cheap, slightly bend that I have hopefully straighten out brake pedal. I am trying to figure out the best way to extend it by 2-3cm. Welding on an extension by cutting and adding a bit in between or adding a plate on top and secure with a couple of screws. ( I am not sure if screws will be a secure solution) Is the pedal made of aluminium and what did you use to weld it. I can do some brazing with my Mapp torch.....but not sure it will work. Cheers
The pedal is made of aluminium alloy. I didn't weld it myself but got it done at a local ladder manufacturer who do loads of alloy welding. I think you'd need more than a propane torch to do it. The pedal I used had had the pad broken off and was welded back with the bottom of it lined up with the top of the pedal and the gap filled with weld. Here is a rough sketch.
Many Thanks - you gave me a great idea!. I will cut off the pad from the spare pedal and weld it to the other (will cut off the tip of the other pad). The hard bit .......find a local alloy welder. Cheers!!
Not being able to find a pedal extender I made one up Aluminium Plate top and a bit of angle 3 screws and a stainless penny washer Looks OK?? Works OK
