1200 DVT Time To Change Tyres.

  1. image.jpg I've just had another Scorpion fitted to the rear after 3500 miles.
    Can't fault them, I've had PR4S on previous multi and only got 3800. Might even do a track day on them
     
  2. That's just bizarre. Never heard of wear problems on PR 4s. Dodgy tyre?
     
  3. Didn't think it was a problem, just thought it was a heavy handed twin thing!
    Went through two PR4s with similar mileage
     
  4. Thinking about it, my rear tyre does a lot more miles than the front ;-)
     
  5. 4k rear sounds about right to me for PR4s, and 8k out the front. The original scorpians did 3k and rear was wrecked, front hundreds not thousands of miles left
     
  6. yes FWR did mine 35 quid cash back makes it 205 fitted ..i think the cash back deal is nearly finished check michelin web site

  7. My rear PR4 has done 8,000+ miles. Admittedly a lot of that on the hard compound in the middle on French motorways. But it was fecking hot and I was fully loaded and two-up. No traffic-light grands prix because of that! Maybe 1,000 miles left. Front would outlast it but I prefer to change in pairs.

  8. I would just add that a tyre you choose has to do what you want it to do and its a personal preference.

    The scorpion tyres supplied with the bike have been nothing short of great at the mo and I would say that I was very apprehensive about them before I bought the bike - so much so I was considering changing them before I even set off to tour on them. I have done about 3,000 miles on them and they do have a lot of tread left on them which I am surprised about (two up and fully loaded).

    From experience I do also really rate the PR 4's but like I say i'm that impressed with the 2nd generation Scorpions and I would deffo refit them. I read a report that they were very much improved re the mileage you should expect as opposed to the 1st gen scorpion tyres and I have to say I cant disagree with that.

  9. I had full confidence with Scorpions but 4000ml is not good enough for me. I think hard acceleration eats tyres most. Pr4 was my choice.

  10. I agree with the above, except that I have done over 6,000 miles on the oem Scorpion 2's and there is still some tread left on them - much to my surprise. Assumed I would replace them with PR4s when they wear out, but now I'm considering going for replacement Scorpion 2s.
     
  11. Wear aside, have you found the new Scorps better than PR4s?
     
  12. The Scorp 2s are clearly better than the Scorp 1s, and pretty much as good as PR4s as far as I can tell. This includes motorways, twisties, towns, wet and dry use (but not including any track days). I would not go as far as to say better than PR4s.
