749 749s Differences

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by bluey, Aug 8, 2015.

  1. If you do get one change the sprockets straight away as it makes the bike feel even gruntier.

  2. I don't think i'll ever sell mine, it does need a bit of tlc now though.

  3. I do love my 10 but it is time for a change.

  4. Absolutely agree 100%...I will also buck the trend though and say that I think the original series 1 with the silver frame/grey swinger looks classier IMO.;)

  6. If you can wring a ZX10 r's neck, then you are a better man than me !:Banghead:.........:)

  7. That's my point right there. Crazy fast machine but where the heck can I use it?

  8. I notice yours has an 'S' after the 749 decal, should all 'S' models have that?

  10. as far as i know yes, but maybe just the ser 2,,, but easiest way to tell is the multi adj foot peg mounts,, there are other things but that is the easiest,,, if it does not have the S then i might want to know why ???

  11. looking at it it does seem clean model, ( with the S after the number and the multi adj foot mounts :upyeah: ),,, just one thing i will say,, there are often peeps coming on here asking how to replace grey swing arm with black box one, but never vice cersa , also later fairing and nose cone look better,,,,,,, take your time mate, there are plenty around and coming into winter now, prices go down.

  12. They are both good bikes, the 749 mk1 and the mk2,, plenty for the road whatever swinging arm and fairing they have... Focusing on the bike your considering I would insist on new front disc's fitted and a service inc Belts (pointing towards the stall at tickover not being correct)

If the seller doesn't agree, then make an offer on the asking price taking in the above costs......Good luck.....

  13. As far as I am aware both series of 749/999S have an 's' after the numbers ,if yours hasn't it could be wearing new clothes due to a spill etc, If it was me i'd want to check it out,not sure about the 749S but the 999S has full Ohlins suspension too.

  14. The one I looked at today did have all the extra goodies. The seller seems genuine enough, he has dropped the price already to allow for a belt change which I will do myself, and he is calling his garage on Monday to ask for a second opinion on the discs. They are deffo warped though, the whole front end was vibrating when on the brakes. If he dropped the price again for discs I'd have took it there and then. Still good to walk away though to have a good think about it before handing over the cash, and, I got to talk with you guys too.

  15. I have the grey swing arm model and never find myself hankering after the later one. I'm perfectly happy with it.

  17. They all have multi adjustable peg mounts

  18. How is the rake altered? That will be the giveaway I reckon.

  19. Wrong... :p

The series 2 is like a wobbly jellymould compared to the razor like lines of the series 1... which are only accentuated by being faster/yellower!

S has adjustable headstock, TiN Showa forks, adjustable footrests and a few more ponies tucked away... love mine to bits (and the series 2 is supposed to be a better bike and has a cooler swinging arm... but shhhhh).
