  1. Excellent. Restoring to good mechanical order - essential; tidying up the cosmetics - good. But I do so agree about not losing the original patina. It's tempting to go overboard with the chroming and tarting up, but try to resist! Period bits and pieces are preferably to be kept, even if they are a bit worn or corroded, and even if new bits are available. Well that's what I think. @mervyn

  4. I am very envious of your doing the 5 laps on your Sport Classic.They really are a tremendous machine.I only sold mine because it caused me so much pain after riding it.

  5. Fear not Peter.I will not ruin the old girl.Most of the work will be on the engine,mostly curing oil leaks and the like.If I want a tarty bike I have one in the garage to look at.
     
  6. 1965 was the year that I left school and started my one and only job for an employer.I did this for 26 years before leaving and doing something different.
    I have tried to convince my son that your claim to the Triton is quite valid.He has now chained himself to it and has complained to his sister that I am trying to cut him out of his inheritance.:eek:

  7. Curing oil leaks on a pre-unit Triumph twin engine, eh! Good luck with that.

  9. Be optimistic mervyn, although a long time ago now my pre unit Triton never lost a drop of oil, they weren't all bad!!

  10. I am hoping to do the best I can with my limited skills.The main problems are a leak from the push rod tube on the inlet side.A weep from one of the rocker shaft seals,and what appears to be some excessive spluttering from the breather.The other major problem is the magneto.
    None of these problems are that difficult to fix,so I will do my best and work methodically through them.:upyeah:

    I had a 6T back in the day but it had a single carb head, that a 110 head?

    Nice rare TLS too, lovely bike!
     
  12. Hi Air Duck.The cylinder head is a Bonneville 9 stud head matched to a 750 Morgo barrel.There are a few nice period bits on the bike and I have got some new old stock John Tickle clip ons and headlamp brackets to go on.I don't want to mess with her too much though.
