Trioption Up, What To Next?

  1. Well 3 years has come around pretty quickly and i've got the letter asking me what I want to do with the bike.

I love the 848, lust after a new 1199 or 1299, but just wished Duc had brought out a 899 Special Edition by now with Tricolor paint scheme and few extra touches.

I have enough saved to pay of the final payment, though wondering if i should just use it on the deposit for a new bike.

Shame to say it but the 848 has done less than 3k since new and is pristine and i'm pretty attached to it. I just wish i could afford to keep it and have a Pani too.

  2. Why not pay off the 848 and wait for something to come up and then px it?

  3. Or pay off the 848 and PCP a 899 SE Tricolore to go alongside it when it comes out ?

  4. No wonder that dealers keep complaining that my two-year-old Ducati has a high mileage at only 14,000 (purely pleasure biking) miles!!

I didn't believe Snells when they told me most owners didn't do more than 3,000 miles a year. Seems they may have been telling the truth!

  5. 3000 ! Jeez... i'll be happy with 1000 on each of my 2 this year.. May even be slightly optimistic.

  6. My 1199s is almost a year old now and has 7500 miles haha!! Bear in mind that Ducati are releasing new bikes next month and it looks possible that it will be an 899 upgrade and perhaps something like a streetfighter (all rumours on the actual models). There's a thread on it somewhere.

  7. Expensive pound-per-mile hobby then! Pride of ownership must make it worthwhile.

I don't commute on mine but try to get out whenever the sun shines and do at least one trip to France each year. Soon mounts up.

  8. I'll do about 6k across both my bikes :)

  9. not entirely sure what i signed up to when i bought the 848 put a sizable deposit down pay quite a lot a month still owe 9990? after 2years. aint done jack on the bikes this year. managed about 1200 miles over two weeks (three week ends) last month but thats about it. might sell em a buy an mot station.

  11. So Snells' 3,000-mile figure is spot-on for you I guess. (Per bike)

  12. Do you find you're favouring the Scrambler now?

  13. Dealer just offered me £5.5k for mine. Looks like the best option is going to be a private sale.

  14. I could exceed that figure if we have a decent autumn & winter and the heated grips ever turn up for my Scrambler. :p

Up until last weekend, when I went out with @MATT46 on the Panigale I would have said yes, but having had a few hours out with Matt (we've not had much time out this year because of his job situation, and Bettes is always away working this year) it rekindled my love affair with the Panigale.

I think that the way I'll use them is riding the Pani with friends on Sportsbikes and riding the Classic on my own when t'others arent available to ride with.

Both bikes are fantastic fun, just in very different ways.

  15. You should get a Multistrada. Then you'd have a foot in both those camps ... and have a tourer when you wanted one too!! Three bikes for the price of one! (Forget the off-road capability. That's just a sales pitch for the Americans.) Bet you'd sell the Pani and the Scrambler if you got one because they'd be gathering cobwebs!!

  16. Saw an 899 today at Silverstone in a Tricolour scheme - the guy said he bought it as a sticker kit - it looked like it was painted the quality was that good.

  17. I had an 848 evo and have to say the 899 is a leap forward but as others have said we are waiting until sept to find out if there is an update so I for one am waiting to at least find out. Plus dealers aren't taking orders on 899 now.

I would buy it for GFE if it's less than it's worth or just give it back and keep your savings towards a 899

  18. I had mine done by the dealer and also covered with ventureshield. Its an excellent job.

  19. In the past I would never have considered one as they were much too tall for me. However now the DVT has a lower setting capability, it has potential for me.

I have sat on one on the lower setting and can get both feet flat on the ground :)

It's definitely one for the future I believe:)

  20. A truly great bike. See my review in the MS Info section.
