First of all the pleasure,what a fantastic bike,my first ducati after 40 years of biking and i love it,best bike i have ever ridden,performance,handling brakes,looks are all fantastic. Now the pain,:Inpain: my bike has got all the reported faults, paint rubbed of mudguard,spots and scratches on display,staples come out of seat, n/s pannier clip broke, fuel gauge, flat spot in the mid range ,also stones thrown up through hole in hugger have chipped the plastic coating off the shock spring. I have done 4500 miles in a month so probably why ive got all the faults. my bike is at ducati coventry having all of this replaced under warranty, john and rick at ducati coventry have been brilliant and ducati have accepted all the warranty claims without any fuss, made a rubber bung for the hugger and putting screen saver on display.so should be back to pleasure again soon.....
yes, alps tour,france,austria,switzerland,italy, great trip, 3500 miles 10 days multi was brilliant from toll roads to mountains..
Nice bike indeed if only they'd fix the standard faults. Been all over Thailand on mine and on to laos. Luang Prabang in the west and Ponsavan (Plain of Jars) in central Laos. All road conditions and weather. last week 2000km in 3 days to the north of Thailand and back to Bangkok in some of the worst rain I've ever ridden in. Pity about the fuel sensor and heated handlebars failing for the umpteenth time.
I did 2100 miles from London to northern Italy and back. I shortened the trip as it was too hot and humid out there for biking and I discovered the standard seat doesn't work for me. Now I'm having fuel gauge sticking problems after leaving it stand for 3 weeks. Great bike in other respects, and it did an average of 56 mpg, mixed riding. The oil level does appear to have dropped to the minimum mark though, so I'll top it up and keep an eye on it. It was bloody hot out there.
All my riding has been in 32c at the lowest or up to 40c at the highest most times 36c most days here are 36c never used any noticeable amount of oil, never had to top up between services. I'm no slouch either. Cruises beautifully at 176kmh.
I used 1 litre of oil in 4000 miles, i think this is acceptable and ducati say its ok will keep my eye on it..we had the same crazy hot temps on our alps tour better than rain though..
I suppose if these bikes use oil looking on the bright side, we'll always have newish oil in the sump. I remember my old aircooled FJ1200 on a high speed run from Turin to London in one go, every other fuel stop I had to put oil in!
Getting my multi back today, cant wait, all issues have been fixed, only trouble is when i was at the dealer the other day i caught the dreaded full termi fever, I seem to have ordered one, just hope the wife wont notice !!
There's a brand new full termi system on evilbay (still boxed) for a dvt £1200 or offers. Bargain surely.
Thanks dave, but too late for me, ducati charging me 1700 fitted, think the only problem buying and fitting yourself is installing the new map, has to be done at ducati dealer i believe..
Yeah my nearside (LHS) rear lug on the givi / ducati pannier is cracked as well :-( . Have emailed photos to my dealer.....and brake reservoir leaking too
You got a great bargain there fella, if the dealer had not thrown the full system in with my deal i would have snapped that up myself. [emoji106]
After owning several new gen BMW bikes, it's quite normal to have panniers that don't fit and leaking res pots. I'm awaiting delivery of my bike (hopefully within the nxt wk for sept) and not one fault has put me off in the slightest, even the demo bike had a dodgy fuel gauge !
