1200 DVT Dvt Seat

  1. I'm thinking there must be something fundamentally wrong with the standard seat on the DVT

I've have heard a few people stating the seat pushes you forward into the tank, and having rode a dealer demo last week I would agree

The demo I took out also had the seat cover coming off (un glued) from the rear of the riders seat, again a symptom off the design pushing you forward and dragging the fabric along with you

Can any off the early DVT riders shed any light on how there seat is fairing up after a few miles in the saddle?

  2. No problems with mine after 700 miles. Got it on the high setting, perfectly comfortable, doesn't seem to push me forwards, and no sign of damage to the seat. May well be down to individual riding style?

  3. Mine looks fine after 3000 miles. Got it in the low position as I didn't like the gap it had in the high position.

  4. Mine's holding up OK after about 1900Km. Haven't had any issues with its angle in the high position, just with it not being high _enough_.
Riding position could well be a factor; I tend to move around, and mostly scoot toward the back of the seat for a less upright position.

  5. As per the other thread, at 2000 miles mine has softened up a bit and the forward tilt has lessened slightly. On longer days it needs a leg stretch after 100 miles (just standing up on the pegs for a it does it), but I'd prefer the profile to be less forward tilting.

I just did a quick experiment and removed the high-position side seat supports and left the front one in place. This dropped the back of the seat while leaving the front in the high position.

It looks ugly with a gap where the side supports would be, but after a 20 mile test ride it is more comfortable. Not a long term solution as the centre of the seat is unsupported (warning!!), but it does confirm to me that less of a forward tilt is more comfortable.

  6. I also noticed this on the test ride, I was riding on my b*lls.
The old bike used to do this and require some 'rearranging' before getting on, the narrower Performance seat has a different angle and less padding at the front and stopped all of this, much more comfortable.
Hopefully they will provide one for the DVT?

  7. If your nuts are in the way, surely it's cheaper to have them removed rather than buy an OE seat ?

  10. I bought my bike in May and had covered about 1500 miles and the staples started coming out of the back of the seat, my dealer replaced this recently and the new one is firmer and a little more comfortable, i think this came from a different manufacturer than the original, seems a little flatter, maybe thats the firmness, only time will tell, now covered 2250 miles
The seat does not fit as well as the old one and I can see the underneath of the seat through the gap in the side. i too prefer the low position.Still have my balls!

  11. That makes sense, the demo bike I rode was a early May bike, I wonder if they have changed the seat supplier at the factory from the early bikes?

Did the 1st seat push you forward/down towards the tank?

You say the replacement seat is flatter, does this not. Push you forward?

  12. There's a touring seat available isn't there?
I bought the touring seat for the Diavel, the difference was night & day...

Has anybody tried the touring seat? I'd be very interested in their review

  13. I was told the supplier had been changed due to the staple issue, from what I recall the first seat did squash me bits more than the current one, but the material does feel a LOT! firmer than the original, the first thing I noticed was that I felt higher in the saddle when I first got on than the original. I tended to slide forward when wearing my jeans more, less grippy I guess, I will have to try again and see what happens.

  14. So, tested with jeans, firmer but still a little sliding, but not bad enough to lose my bits, something i can live with!

  15. Hi Nick,
I haven't seen a touring seat come out for the DVT yet, there is a seat with a lower seat height on the Ducati website.

  16. Hi jim
I've ordered a comfort seat having it fitted on 1st service.

  17. The Ducati Comfort seat is made by Touratech and have had one on for about 4 weeks and 4,500m now. It is flatter than the OEM seat so doesn't push your backside forward so much. It has taken a while to bed in and is better than the OEM seat bit I don't think it is as comfortable as the 2013 Comfort seat - Yet! Mine is set on high BTW.

PS - Made by Touratech? Well it has the Touratech logo on it and the DPS logo!

  18. Cheers guys, I was not aware of that, how much are they, the same as the earlier Multi comforts seats?

  19. £350 inc vat
