899 New Bike Sorted

  1. On the 899, riding spiritedly I get about 44mpg. There is 5 litres in reserve. Tank is 18litres. I have done 40miles in reserve but I tend to ride a bit more gently in reserve. It also helps if you change to wet mode if desperate for a petrol station.

  2. Commuting and I have about 12 miles a day of twisty fun roads to enjoy I get 140 minimum from a tank I used to fill up way before but just pushed a little more each time.

  3. I went for a 118 mile blast on Friday and the light hadn't turned on yet. Only put 10.5 litres in it too so still had some decent range in it too. Wasn't red lining it or anything but wasn't hanging about either...

  4. Not sure how you are getting over 100 miles to a tank?! I struggle with over 100, 140 miles - no chance. I am not thrashing it everywhere so don't know why there's so much difference. I use it for longer journeys and some commutes but mainly 50+ mile journeys

  5. No idea! I'm averaging 45.2mpg (measured) and that ride was 50.8mpg. I just have standard exhaust and things though, don't know if you have the Termis and if that maybe makes a difference?

  6. I get between 100 and 110 before the light comes on.

  7. Ah now there's a point; i get about 100 miles before the light comes on too. I am not that bothered just interested to see what others get. Lot more thirsty than the GSXR though

For info its completely standard......at the moment. Set of Termis awaiting fitment, when i get the time!

  8. If you want someone to come and help/chat to whilst you fit them (I fitted a set of termi cans to my 1199 last week) give me a shout, I'm based between Bath/Bristol.

  9. I get confused by the amount of variation in fuel readings between members, I would think the Termi's make it a little better on fuel tbh as when I had my 848 mapped it got better but I could be really wrong.

Also are they getting better with miles on them? I know Burndownthedisco's for example uses his daily and has Termi's and is one who reports really good fuel figures (I think anything over 110 is fine) 80 miles on the 848 when I bought it was a little rough!

  10. Im getting about 100-140 miles to a tank on the 899 dependant on the ride rather than how i ride it.

Ive found that if im riding slower roads (40-50mph ) in mostly 2nd or 3rd gear then it uses loads . If i go out towards lincolnshire where its all 3rd /4th and 5th gear roads at higher speeds then its using less. I murdered the thing on saturday night for 180 miles and it still did 49mpg. Whats all that about....

So there you have it, want better economy? ride faster!

  11. Yeah, sounds familiar!

Yep those BSTs are lush! Whats the score with the lightweight flywheel, i assume that race use only? The Talon sprockets look loads better than the stadard black steel one eh!

  15. Cool, just let me know when you're planning on fitting them and I'll try to come over. Definitely up for a ride out also!

  16. Drop me a PM with your number Matt

  17. Thanks mate the talon came with them, just had a new lightweight chain fitted to match, the flywheel is but the generator kit is a Ducati accessory and made a big difference only downside is the rear wheel does lock easily on heavy down shifts but I can live with that, highly recommend the generator and wheels they both made a massive difference in a positive way
