Almost Spring That Must Mean It's Time For A New Multi

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Dino, Aug 16, 2015.

  1. Hi All
I've been riding my first Ducati, a 2013 1200GT for the last couple of years. I'm waiting for the new 2015 1200s in White to turn up. It's been about a month since I ordered it and while I've been waiting I've been watching every You Tube clip and I've read every 2015 model multi blogg that I can find. I'm in New Zealand so I guess we're so small that we're almost an after thought for Ducati. I don't care though as we have some of the best roads for motorcycles in the world especially if you don't mind a bit of gravel occasionally.
Anyway I'm enjoying reading though some of the threads here and I've got a To Do list for when I get the call to go pick the new beast up.
    Cheers D

  2. Ordered mine yesterday and it arrives in 2 wks, cannot wait to get it pimped.

  3. Hi Dino, welcome, where in NZ are you?

  4. I live on the North Shore in Auckland. There's some great riding up north but absolutely fantastic riding in the South Island. You're a lucky bastard living down there

  5. God I wish. I'm away for a couple of weeks at the end of the month and what's the bet it won't get here before I leave...

  6. Living in the UK, I am jealous of your easy access to great roads and wide open spaces.

What's the speed camera penetration over there?
I found found some great empty roads in Canada and the US but the problem was the only half-decent bike I could find to hire was a GS.

I will have to ship my Ducati over there next time!

  7. You are looking in the wrong places ;)

  8. Yep we suffer from the speed camera problem although at the moment I think we only incur a fine but no loss of points. What we don't have is traffic especially outside Auckland.
I almost bought the new GS instead of the new multi but they weren't too happy trading the GT and offered some ridiculous trade. I'm kinda glad I waited as the ride I had on the demo was brilliant.

  9. Ooooo exciting :)

Hello and welcome into the mad house

  10. NZ is probably top of my list of places I would like to go to that I have never been to. It is a seriously long way though.

  11. Tease! Where then? I live in West London don't forget. I said I was jealous of those guys' easy access to sublime roads. Cumbria is too far away for a weekend, let alone a quick blow-away-the-cobwebs blast!

The best road near me is the westbound A303 (an hour away). But I have done that to death since most of its speed cameras were removed.

  12. You'll need this then: Rental Motorbikes NZ | BMW | Suzuki | Honda | Yamaha | Hyosung - no Ducati as usual though!

Looks like the Yam or the GS are the best options.

  13. Thanks for the welcome and yes it is exciting but I suck at waiting

  14. It'll give you plenty of time to do all the jobs that won't get done when the bike arrives ... I was AWOL for nearly a month after I had to wait six weeks for my MTS! You won't be able to stay off it!

  15. watched the Henry guy with his greatest rides prog in NZ,, looks great mate..

  16. Yep unfortunately your right thought that's what make it so bike friendly. No real traffic problems and loads of back roads that are completely empty. It's only a problem if you fall off or break down and there's no cell coverage. Not happened yet but it's always in the back of my mind when I'm off exploring

  17. They look quite cheap to hire - compared to North American prices - £58 per day for a GS700. I paid £100 per day for a GS1100 in 2008 in Canada!

  18. I saw it the other day. He seemed to enjoy himself though he didn't really hit the best spot imho.

  19. Yep. NZ and SA are top of my list now I've ticked Canada and the US off my list.

  20. Do you have a link to his best bits please?
