1200 Backfire After Changing To Full Kit Termi

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Pentux, Aug 15, 2015.

  1. Hello every one, i hope that i am posting this on the correct forum.

I did an install of a full termi kit on my MTS 1200 GT though my ducati dealer. but it seems that my mts keep backfiring and popping. The bike went more than two time to the dealer where i guess they just re apply the Upmap.

I wish to have a dyno in the region to have a proper reading of whats going rather than just re applying the upmap without number. The exhaust just change the colors after two short ride only (burn).

Usually when you do a full kit termi upgrade is your dealer will run it on Dyno to ensure that everything is fine ?? I wish it could be mandatory specially when you pay the price more than 2k $ of this kit.

I am just attaching a picture of the slip on after two short ride look like not really normal. Is their anything i can check from my side ??? Is doing a dyno reading will help ??

  2. Mine used to pop n burp when changing down gears so not sure u should worry too much. I dont think dealers do a dyno at least mine didn't. He just did the upmap n it ran lovely, still popped n burped on downshift which was sweet !

  3. Thank you mate for sharing your experience. I had a discussion with a guy who run a dyno center, he advise me to just do a reading per cylinder and if anything wrong just present it to the dealer. He told me for the price of the kit why not just have checkup as per his experience he already find some surprise but not on MTS he did mostly Ducati sport bike. IT will be interesting to know if a dyno tune could be really a great point to do, if any one have any experience on it will be great to know the result.

After watching this dyno on a peak pike i got really interested to do it to.

  4. You've brought a racing exhaust system. Nuff said

  5. that's the all point even a racing system need to be tune i guess :) , just would like to know if only the upmap is enough or running a dyno will be a good things to do on top of it, specially if any one did this before will be great to get their experience on it.

  6. The problem with the Ducati up map is its a generic map made to suit all multrada's as best as possible, i.e. its a compromise ,
did you also fit the high flow air filter ?
I would get it dyno'd to check the fuel mixture

  7. Thank you Barrycg for your constructive answer, the air filter has been replace to with the high flow one to. I will might give a try to find a dyno in the region at list just to do a reading. The dyno tech guy with who i discuss propose to me to do it but the only issue only if i have to tune it, as my dealer told me that no one can touch the mapping as it will void the warranty, i am little tired of this warranty joker used by the dealer. But at list the dyno tech was honest and advise me as first stage just to do a reading print out the result and present it to the dealer and if no action from dealer sent it to Ducati HQ as a tech team can review to from their and propose more advise ( such as Dyno tune). I will follow your advise and go through a dyno reading to get some fact number :).

  8. Exhaust gaskets good? Breached gaskets can cause crackle and popping.

  9. Hi Mary Hinge, great point to. I suspect should be fine as the bike went two time to the dealer, they just told me that they just re apply the upmap but seems not fixe unfortunately, i will do a full physical inspection myself this week end, just incase might be some air leak somehow and may be the gasket to. Thank you for pointing it out :). Appreciate your answer :p.

  10. My PP has the same set up as yours except with a custom map, I do get slight poping on shutting the throttle from high revs, as for the warranty if you have a major problem just plug the up map in again ;)

  11. Are you using a Power Commander on your PP :p ??

  12. No were lucky to have a company here that can map the ecu direct CJS racing

  15. I guess you did just an upmap right no dyno tune ?? might first start my own inspection this week end :). thank you for sharing mate :).

  16. No dyno, but have had it fitted from new and have got about 5 melted number plates and 2 melted indicators for my trouble, only tend to use the multi with pillion so never pushing to hard and it's super smooth.

  17. lol did not reach the melted point yet :p. I am on discussion with a dyno guy who has 15 years experience heir in my region, he is willing to help before getting the melting point :). Let see the result at list having a reading might help to understand the real status.
