Has anyone installed the under slung rear caliper mount? Obviously adds nothing to performance but quite like the look of these. To me, it seems as if you will need a slightly longer rear brake line? Any advice is much appreciated.
I have one ready to fit my project along with a Black Arm - not sure if a new brake line is needed but nothing else is. On my '03 999R it looks like the brake line would easily be long enough as it travels up to the calliper from the bottom of the arm.
I bought it with the Black Arm from a Forum Member - you can buy them new or second hand when they come up
I have under slung on my gixer. Not sure if it makes fitting the rear wheel easier or not. You can use it to rest on while lining stuff up but seems harder to get the disc in between the pads sometimes
That's what I was thinking with regards to the brake line travelling up from the bottom...if anything it should have a bit to spare. I have a new rear rotor to go on so might install the bracket once I have the wheel off.
At work so no access th now , will look later tho will prob make my own ( price dependent / economically viable of course )
I did this mod years ago on my 749. Just for looks as my riding won't improve from having an under slung calliper. Unsprung weight distribution is the reason for a race bike having a calliper like this. For a road bike it's higher so road crud doesn't get in the pads/calliper.
I've got one of the black Rider's underslung brackets, but the thread for one of calliper bolt holes is knackered. Needs a helicoil but I can't be arsed now I'm using something different. Same one as this: £35 posted if anyone wants it??
