Mv Agusta Tv800

  1. I dropped by Forza Italia today as I was in the neighbourhood and wanted to take a glimpse at the new TV800.

I've got to say it's a good looking thing. They've obviously taken a lot of cues from the Multi, but the seat feels comfier and the screen is wider and shorter. They've also managed to fit a 22 litre tank in somehow. Like the XR it also has an up/down shifter. They've also included a nice colour TFT screen that doesn't seem to scratch.

I'm sceptical about the engine performance from the 800 but they've kept it light - so it'd be interesting to see how the bike performs on the road.

I'm going to try one out of interest.

I'd be interested to know what you guys think of it.

  2. Looks good, has all the gear and is priced appropriately. If it rides well I could see it being a good seller.

  3. Not the best looking bike i have seen i have to say, hope it rides better than it looks!

  4. The images online don't do it justice. Looks good in the flesh. The rear is really nice. Front light is a bit more love/loathe.

  5. Thread moved :)

  6. I'd be very interested in riding opinions from Multi owners - it's on my try list for next spring…

  7. I'd imagine it will massively lack power in comparison. Go try a triumph 800 tiger explorer thing for a guide

  8. I had a long demo on one a few weeks ago as was seriously interested in getting one but I came away slightly underwhelmed . A big issue for me was the fact that both my current bikes are geared to do around 20mph per 1000rpm so nice and relaxed engines at high speeds but the MV was just over half of that at around 11mph if I recall correctly and I dont like 6000 odd rpm at 70mph for example. It would have been to replace my Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport and while the MV is undoubtedly dynamically better in almost every way, more powerful and much lighter, it is slightly dull and felt like a commodity . Whenever I ride the Guzzi I get off and cant help looking back at it and smiling, with the MV I just got off and went home.
I`ve done a fair few miles on a Tiger 800 too as a good friend has one and IMO they are fairly similar although the Triumph is well down on performance but also very much cheaper. I wouldnt buy that either though. I`ve not ridden a Multistrada so cant give any comparisons there.

  9. Saw one in the flesh the other week, thought it looked great, the front light is very cool. If I didn't get duc discount i'd consider one as a replacement for my hyperstrada.

  10. Been meaning to try one myself, the dealer is just down a mile from me on Upper Richmond Road.

I find the looks a bit bland with the usual diamond shaped headlight dating the fairing despite being LED. The Stradale was far more interesting aesthetically but nowhere near as practical as the TV purports to be.

  11. Just googled an image. Looks like someone home chopped the top fairing off the F800 and stuck it on a tenere

  12. LOL. The front reminds me a bit of the very early Multis. I do like what they've done with the subframe though, and they've done a good job incorporating the panniers into the design.
I agree with your earlier comment though - would 110bhp feel a bit lacking for the size of bike?

  13. There's no accounting for personal taste of course, but that looks poo...
