Riding With No Leathers Only

  1. can not believe the idiots riding in trainers, t shirts or tracksuits today...even saw a pillion rider wearing a back protector but wearing Lycra bottoms and bra. Couldn't give a sh1t about them if they come off but feel sorry for the sights the emergency services must see. I have seen what 10mph can do let alone 80+. Absolute muppets...it's not cool, or maybe you can not afford leathers, either way embarrasses me to see this as a biker.

  2. Why would you be embarrassed?

Stupid is as stupid does. :)

  3. As bikers are unfortunately put in the same box by all non bikers I.e we all speed, take risks, etc. of course at times we do, but no more than car drivers but sometimes how can you defend these idiots, you just can't.

  4. Makes me cringe. But its their choice

  5. Yup. Was overtaken (very poorly) by a lad riding a R1 in T-shirt and shorts. No gloves either. His choice. A de-gloved hand is not a pretty thing to behold.

  6. That's the problem...give people a choice in life and half will be idiots about it, until it all goes wrong and it's someone else's problem. And we wonder why we live in a world of so many laws and rules and do's and don't and having to be told what is right and wrong.

  7. I always wear either full leathers or textiles. Having ruined a set of leathers in accident I can't imagine ever riding without putting them on. Unfortunately we have freedom of choice so some will decide they don't need them.

  8. Yep there is a bloke around here
Who rides an R1 He had shorts a muscle top and trainers no gloves racing through the traffic
Made me cringe what a great advert for gravel rash skin grafts and that's if he makes it
I would think the speed he was going would be most non bikers thoughts over clothing
We think about it because most of us have come off in leathers and protection and are thankful for them

  9. Get down off that moral pedestal big boy. You're making a relative judgement that is only one step removed from the opinion of those who think bikes should be banned in total, take out your references to clothing and substitute a general reference to bikes in general, then stop to think about the logic.
Your thoughts are as judgemental, dangerous and utterly offensive as any bigoted, one track, safety zealot anti bike campaigner ever has been.
You're in good company though, supported by a guy who uses the phrase "unfortunately we have freedom of choice"................words fail me

  12. Every place i have ever been in europe, most if not all bikers wear next to bugger all and its only frowned upon by real leather clad bikers,i ride in what ever i want to dependant on,how far and how hot it is,never ridden in shorts and t shirt, but boots, jeans and lightweight dianese air flow jacket are my minimum requirement.

  13. I do agree with Umbra's sentiments, but nobody was saying it should be banned or even action taken to stop the behavior, just saying its stupid, surely we're allowed free speech?

I remember a long while back in the US in the Chicago area and being absolutely struck speechless at guys on sports bikes on the freeway, no helmets, shorts, "wife beater" shirts (these vest thingies) as the Canadians called them and sandals or trainers going buy at ballistic velocity.

I just cringed, but its their flesh and if they want it flailed off them in a spill, then that is their choice.

  14. Best not go to Spain/Portugal/Italy then boys and girls, you'll wear yourself out tut-tutting about how others choose to live their lives.
Tell you what, why not let other people live their lives the way they choose, and hopefully they won't criticise the way others live theirs?
If you are a member of the Emergency Services and you don't want to see injuries that might have been lessened by the wearing of more suitable clothing, just a reminder that you volunteered for the job and there are other jobs available should you choose to leave.
Other stupid things people do that may lead to illness/injury:
Strapping two planks to the feet and sliding down mountains on a slippery surface
Hurling self out of an aeroplane with a bag of string attached to a rag
Joining 21 others in kicking or carrying an air-filled leather bag
Tying an elastic rope to the ankles and jumping off high places.
Ditto, but with aforementioned bag of string attached to back
Climbing high places just to look around and then climb down again...the list is endless....
    Idiots,every one...

  15. Just a thought maybe riding with little attire on car drivers are more aware and keep there distance as they don't want to knock them off and hurt them
I would give him a wide berth

    Each to their own

I was pillion in Sri Lanka and I insisted on a helmet it was liberating wearing jeans and a sweat top so I see the attraction

After my two accidents I wouldn't be happy wearing jeans and hoody/tshirt but that's my problem

  16. Is everyone missing the obvious here ? ...... Where are the pics of the pillion wearing Lycra and bra ?

  17. When I was 17 I learned never to ride to the pub in new jeans. Everyone else knew that if you were going to come off you could guarantee it would be when you were wearing your new strides. I learned the hard way. A GS 125 and a pair of Wranglers, ruined.

I used to ride to work in a Barbour jacket, wellies and an open face Nolan with no goggles. I got hit in the eye once by a bumble bee at 50 mph. No-one would believe I hadn't been punched. I've worn a full face lid ever since.

  19. I know a bloke who wears two pairs of his wife's old tights in the winter instead of thermal longjohns. He reckons they're warmer and more comfortable. That's alright until you have an accident and have to go to casualty.

  20. So why wear a helmet and no leathers. Makes sense. Bit like turning up for a dinner date in your finest Armani suit with your knob slung out
