749 190 Profile Tyre Over Standard 180

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Dubs, Aug 24, 2015.

  1. 5.5inch rim will be a 180. A 6 inch rim 190.

  2. A 5.5 to 6.00 rim,you would be able to fit 180/55,190/50 and 190/55,any bigger isn't recommended 3D Ultra Supersport | Avon Tyres and Dunlop say exactly the same,so will most of the big tyre manufacturers

  3. so now we have that both 749 and 999 have same rim width, but diff tyre fitment,, mmm" interesting ",, so should be no inherint prob in fitting 190, ( as OP ),,, what about matching front and rear profile ??

  4. Am I correct in thinking it's a 120/70 on the front??

  5. FFS, why fit a tyre that is a fashion fitment width instead of the right tyre????????????? The rear profile will always be a dogs dinner with a 190/50, so gives a flying eff about the front!

  6. When the 1098 came out in 2007 ducati fitted a 6.0 inch rim but used the same 190 tyre .

  7. Because you can fit the same size tyres up to 190/55 on a rim size of 5.5 and 6.00

  8. See post 29 :)

  9. No. it was a 190/55

  10. yes ,on both models,, but diff rears

  11. Like I just said!!! wheel rim size 5.5 and 6.00 will both accept 180/55,190/50 and 190/55

  12. Then there's no problem,as long as you've got a compatable MAKE of tyre, that's all that matters.

  13. i have not heard any 999 owners say that about their bikes,, but maybe you know better,,

  14. Whats to disagree about its a fact they did fit a 6.0 inch rim with a 190 tyre.

  15. People just being pedantic, you've got 190/50 and 190/55 :) and both will fit a 6 inch rim

  16. yes Jen, but could effect performance due to tyre float or reduction in contact patch,,

  17. Tyre float - explain????

  18. No,otherwise the manufacturers wouldn't put it in their fitment books, true some tyres have a flatter profile than others, then you have to watch things like huggers,as they're usually bought afterwards.

  19. The 999 in WSBK was often run with a 200 profile tyre. I assume that the teams were fitting 6" rims to their bikes.

    Just sayin'.

  20. They prob did,but when you're talking out slicks, their dimensions are slightly smaller than a road tyre.
