Hello does anyone have a tank protector for a 748 like this one.... and if so is it any good? Looks ok and not too expensive at around £100 on fleecebay..... Tank protector/cover Bagster acc.f. Ducati 748 95-04 yellow | eBay
Got one on the Honda. Great for quickly and securely mounting tank bags, although on some bikes you need to remove the bag to get at the petrol filler whereas others you can just "hinge" it up out of the way. They are padded a little so take a some of the vibration out if your bikes a bit vibey. Underneath the cover my tanks still mint after over 50k so helps there too. If you're just after paint protection some of the more modern see-through plastic films probably look better.
Cheers Stang - good to know that info. I did not know you could get plastic films to put around the tank, i suppose that makes sense and I am really looking after protecting the paintwork as my main reason for getting one. I do like the look of the one on ebay, reckon it's not a bad price either if it is a good fit.
have on on a 996 and it really is a nicely made product, unless anything has changed you can't go far wrong with a Bagster. Not a fault of the product but you may find tank paint can lose it's shine in places if you load a bag up on top regularly plus make sure inside of cover and tank are meticulously clean first time you fit it.
Whenever I take mine off (every 3rd/4th time I wash the bike) I make sure I polish the tank to protect it. Whenever you take the cover off make sure you put it down upside down so it doesn't collect dirt. Also make sure you use all fixing straps to secure it. Although they look pricey the tank bags are equally as well made, I used mine for 4 years commuting in all weathers plus touring trips and it still looks as good as new. Bagster stuff looks expensive as by the time you've got a decent tank bag on the bike it's £150-£200, but they're one of those rare things that you get what you pay for. I wouldn't have a commuting/touring/general use bike without one now.
