I am 60 years old (had alicence for 40 years) and have a Scrambler - love riding it to bits. I have been offerd a good deal on a year old Panigale 899 - think it looks so sexy, but have never ridden anything so powerful before. Would it be a foolish additional purchase to keep the Scrambler company? - have always wanted to have some track lessons Cheers Mark
Hi. In other words, no. Age is not a problem! I reckon that as long as you're in a decent physical state and can swing your leg over the bike without too much hassle, what's there to stop you? Hope this helps.
It has a wet mode... Soft power delivery and capped to 1x0 horse power (100?). Will allow u to build your confidence on it
Just do it! while you can still ride, enjoy the revvy smooth engine, quickshifter, handling and looks, they are not intimidating in wet or even race come to that! As a good friend says, " there's no pockets in a shroud!"
More a question of comfort and riding position for you. I am 56, and in generally good health, but for me sport bikes are out of the question. They are just not enjoyable to ride anymore. There are plenty of powerful machines out there offering greater comfort. Good luck anyway.
We have a guy who rides with us who is nearly 80 and rides a 1050 sprint with no real trouble. Crack on!
I love the Scrambler - retro cool looks and loads of fun to swing round bends with highish bars. Very basic but gutsy. I have the classic model
Many thanks for all the encouragement I live near Box Hill and am often there on a Sunday Cheers Mark
If you have ridden a bike for a decent amount of time, are of an age and just fancy a go, and know roughly how to ride it, forget all this spend £500 on tuition imho, just go book some track time and get some free pointers from the instictirs. No Limits are pretty good, as are MSV Or book ron haslam, use thir bikes and get a couple of sessions getting the basics
