1200 New Sport Carbon Screen For Dvt

  1. [IMG] Has any one tried the Ducati Performance Carbon Screen on the new DVT Multi ?
I noticed it has a vent 3/4 of the way up the screen is this to defuse the air flow to create a feeling of a larger screen.
They seem quite pricey however if they work i may invest in one as they look very nice but at the price it needs to work as well

  2. Link? image?

  3. I have the short MRA screen on my DVT and it has transformed the airflow, which is now much smoother and quieter. I imagine this carbon screen would do the same thing, possibly better with the vent duct thing.

  4. Cheers for that Tobers
So what your saying is shorter can be better

  5. I've got one on my DVT, and the airflow is a lot smoother, I had to get rid of the standard screen because the buffeting was terrible. Also the carbon screen is high enough to still give protection to the Navihalter GPS mount, where the MRA is shorter and doesn't.

  6. I went the other way and tried the tinted touring screen.... Not a great option for me. Buffeting is horrible when it's down, but much better when pulled up, but then it looks HUGE!

Will put the original one back on for everyday use, but want to look at getting something smaller. May look at going the same route as @tobers if that's getting good reviews?

  7. Absolutely. It makes sense really - the buffeting is caused by uneven airflow around the screen, and the low-pressure area behind the screen "filling" with air and "emptying" rapidly and unevenly. A more controlled airflow behind the screen to even up the pressure is what actually works if any of the bike manufacturers actually took time to look at the problem correctly.

In the meantime, the shorter screen means a couple of things - firstly a smaller low pressure area behind it results in less airflow disruption. Secondly your helmet is above any disturbed airflow so you just get smooth air (unless you're in the turbulence of another vehicle).

Putting bigger screens on just makes the problem worse unless they are a) so big that you are totally enveloped by the low pressure area which fills and pops behind you, or b) properly designed with controlled airflow up the back of the screen to even out the pressure difference.

  8. Nice reply you clever chap you! ;)

  9. All I can say Every Screen fitted to a bike can be very very different for another Rider. What is perfect for one or as close as can be complete crap for another.
Same as Helmets, same Helmet can be wind and buffet free for one rider, and crap for another.
For me the latest incarnation of screen on the DVT is not too bad, I can ride way past motorway speeds with visor up, where as the standard on the 63 plate was crap really crap, I put a Givi screen large one on my 63 and that was pretty good.
I have the Ducati Short carbon screen for the DVT, grossly over priced, the slot does nothing for me, the wind and buffet for me is worse than the standard. Does look Great though :)
I will no doubt invest in a shorter screen as they are generally not to bad just makes it like you are riding a naked.
On a side note Best Screen I found for me was when testing a LC GS TE I sat in a complete wind free zone behind it, you could pretty well ride at any speed with visor up, certainly any speed I would do visor was up.

  11. I'm 6ft 2ins and the short carbon works for me. I had the seat set high but hate the gaps it leaves so went back to a low set seat. The buffeting is a lot less and directs the air to my chest rather than my head
