Going to try and suss the best Bluetooth bike comms for me and my partner and guessing it can tie in with the bikes multimedia system and my phone? Last one I had was a wired autocom system about 12 years ago so guessing things have moved on a bit now! lol. Going to the bike show in November but folks first hand experience would help point me in the right direction! Thanks.
Sena 20s, double pack. You & her can link your own units too you're own phones. So can engage in private conversations et cetra'
After looking at a lot of reviews both on this site and others plus my own experience of having an Interphone F3 I have just upgraded to the Interphone F5MC with my neighbor doing the same. sound quality is very good and the noise cancelling works very well. The old F3 didn't have noise canceling and despite my wife (pillion) having a full face helmet I was blasted by a constant whistling and engine noise from other vehicles, the F5 is so much better. I have also tested these on ride-outs and was impressed with the distance between bikes where these work and how they quickly automatically reconnect when back in range. They didn't come with much of a user manual but you can download it. that said you don't really need one as the unit talks you through the options as you press buttons. this really helps as you don't want to be reading a manual whilst trying to answer the phone or swap back to bike t bike comms. I've blue-toothed it to my iPhone which was quick and it allows me to get music and satnav instructions. What is really nice is that when someone calls you it reads out their contact name so you are not answering a call blind or forced to mount it somewhere visible every time you get on the bike. Battery life is good, 3 hours to charge form flat and 12 hours talk time. you ca also charge on the go shoudl you need to. You can connect each unit to a PC to update firmware and change settings rather than using the built in menu system. The firmware update is the easiest I've ever seen and worth doing. there are a whole host of features including FM radio etc. but for me it's reliability, size, performance and durability I'm most interested in and this one ticked the boxes better than the rest without making me spend £400. If you buy it in the UK it will cost over £300 but search on eBay.co.uk and there is an Italian guy selling twin packs for £205. they arrive quickly in pristine packaging. hope this helps.
I bought a cheap alternative from eBay and for just under £60 they really are rather good. Clear speech and able to hold a conversation up to 80mph, sync easily with my phone. All in all very good value, music isn't the greatest, probably due to the cheap speakers, but everything else is fine. Bought these > BT Interphone 2 x 800m motorcycle Motorbike Bluetooth intercom Headset helmet UK | eBay Hope that helps. Neil.
Thanks ColT very informative thoughts and will do some research on it! Don't think you can beat real world experience of kit as apposed to salesman pitch!! Got shoei helmet so like the idea of something that works well with it!
Cardo do a system specifically for Shoei - called sho-1 I think? I'm happy enough with my G9X, but it's my first wireless system coming from Autocom, so nothing to compare it with.
I've been using Sena SMH5 for a few years, and many many thousands of miles. All good - the latest sets come with larger ear speakers, and are perfectly loud enough beyond legal speeds. Works well with phone. Only slight niggle is a couple of occasions we've had some issues with very heavy rain getting in to connectors, but this could probably be cured with some silicone grease. Generally pretty satisfied though, and a certainly not something I would want to ride without now - makes a big difference to the enjoyment of riding with your pillion, and extremely worthwhile if you like riding together, as we do.
another for the S20 system , you can also plug in your own earbuds. I use some Shure SE535 noise cancelling ones which are awesome
