Bikesafe

  1. Winchester August 19th 09:00 may be of interest to some

  2. I have been considering for sometime doing this course.
However, where most areas charge a small fee (£20-30) and some areas even free, Hampshire charge a whopping £70.
I haven't done it mainly because I object to them charging soooo much more than others.
Bristol last year were doing a bikesafe in the morning with a few laps of Castle Coomb thrown in.

Are you doing it on that day in Winchester?

  3. I would (anything would improve my riding) but due to domestics I can only do a weekday and they are few and far between.

  4. I did a weekend course with Avon and Somerset, Two night accommodation, all meals and two days riding. Seem to remember it cost about £90, needless to say it was excellent. Oh and they programmed it such that we rode from lunchtime on Saturday so we had a few beers on the Friday night.

  5. I did the Norfolk safe rider course (bike safe) and found it really good, well worth the £20 cost.

Get yourself booked up it's worthwhile

  6. Hampshire is £70. :frown:
Avon and Somerset - Castle Coomb is £30 which is an assessed hour or so on the road and then a 15minute track session.
They also do a more intensive 2 1/2 hr classroom and 3 1/2 hour assessement but I couldn't find the price.
Might choose one of these options.

  7. i did it,south London ,it was ok the copper on his bmw in full uniform follows you around and give you road craft tips, watched a few videos had lunch rode around country lanes, got advise on position for maximum vision , more for riders who have just past thier test i reckon

  8. but youre never too old to learn given you can do a thousand differennt things, or do the same thing a thousand times.................especially when the profile of those that are throwing themselves at the road with fatal results are middle aged males with expensive powerful motorcycles who passed their test years ago.................and havnt bothered to get any further training since.

oh, and the biggest learning curve is generally attitude.............

  9. +1 on that.

I'm redoing it later this year with Lincs.

I previously held a Police Advanced / Pursuit / TPAC permit and therefore I'm used to doing refresher training ( it does exactly what it says on the tin - it REFRESHES your riding and driving )

Having now retired, I'm continuing with it through Bikesafe to try to remain polished.

Got to agree with attitude being way up there too!

  10.
  11. Also looking to do Bikesafe. As there is no Bikesafe in Nottinghamshire do Lincs allow participants from other counties?

  12. I did this years ago, and it made me realise that most of the biker Rozzers are bike enthusiasts first - we were making progress at, ahem, "proper biking speed" shall we say :)

I would be interested in doing it again in North London if anyone is up for it? £45 for the day or £75 for two riders booking together. Info here: http://www.bikesafe-london.co.uk/courses/bikesafe-about.php

  13. I might be tempted, when are you thinking?

  14. I'm doing Bikesafe in S Wales on 9th & 10th June.

  15. Come and do it round Brecon with South Wales police.
You'll love it. Best roads in Britain.. :)
I am biased though, living here and having helped teach on it. :)
Most full two days courses are priced around 70-90.
You will get some goodies too hopefully. Here u used 2 get a mug, a u-tag and a copy roadcraft.

  16. Looking at either Sunday 20th or 27th May? £35 per rider according to the website on those days. I have a friend who just picked up an 848 who might be keen to come along too.

  17. I have a sister-in-law in Chepstow. I could start out from there.
How far is the course from there?

  18. The south Wales police course details here :

    http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Police-Forces/South-Wales-.aspx

(Trefforest Is about Half hour motorway ride from Chepstow)

  19. Apparently yr insurance is still good for track as it's tuition rather than a trackday...:upyeah:

  20. Just received new dates for bike safe still only weekends.
