National Meeting

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by apuhtred, Sep 19, 2012.

  1. Not sure what you mean Andy? The Presidents meeting is simply about Ducati telling the clubs all the latest news and info, and the direction that the company is going over the next year. The big topic was obviously Audi, but they are also changing the way Clubs are structured in relation to Ducati. There is no "shout" involved for anything - all clubs are treated just as equally; 6 or 2000 members!

If you mean would I want to poach members from other clubs ... well the answer is an honest "no". We have a great influx of new members at the moment - Rossi going to Ducati gave us a big boost last year and the new bikes have drawn new owners who want to join a club and get benefits as well.

The DSC is a very niche club - we cater for the Sporting end of the range; trackdays, racing (both partaking and watching), that kind of thing. We have a smaller (and parallel) market to all the other clubs in the UK - DOCGB, SDC and UKMOC - so we have to work even harder to get and retain members.

I'm quite pleased at all the extras that we're doing that are, as Ducati themselves put it, "owner experiences" which you won't be able to get unless you belong to a DOC. We also have our magazine that has been published on time for the last 6 editions (full colour, full A4 size and 24pp) along with stickers and this year's xmas gift (which I signed the cheque for today) and also, of course, the official DOC pack as seen in the pics above, not to mention the joining pack with keyring, stickers, membership card, etc when you join.

It's a shame that you won't take that broom out of your arse because you had some good ideas in the past, and instead of putting effort into petty sniping you could have put all that effort into helping to run a club and make the difference to it's members for their benefit! Did you not enjoy the World Championship Party back in 2007 - that wouldn't have happened without the Club...

  3. Just get on and try a track day, Archer. There are always some novices (new to track, not to bikes) and some slower/older bikes; I bet you wouldn't be the oldest or the slowest rider. Nobody is trying to prove anything, just wanting to have fun and get quicker. And after you've done a couple of trackdays, your road riding skills will improve for sure. The Bike "reclaim the tracks" days avoid the slicks-and-tyre-warmers brigade, if they worry you. Hope this helps.

  4. Andy, We all know the tracks safer! I spent many hours on them, even racing is safer than riding on the road if your riding like you think your on a track.
This week alone 1 local motorcyclist was killed and another injured who i know as he lives in town.

But you get some right twats at trackdays who think they should be in the fast group by image not talent!

  5. Yep back to the attitude thing.....just as much as the people that race hanging around in the novice and inters..................

  6. I like idea of a national meet, Choose a trackday in a specific area, organise ride outs (I hate that phrase btw). Those who track can track. Those who want to ride there can. If camping is available cool. Let others do the organising, just arrive and therefore its free if you're not doing the track thing. I'm track focused, and find riding on the road can limit my licence and life. It could even be like a viral video - A Ducati flash mob ....................

  7. Jeeze, even those with fantastic pension plans are miserable gits......................

  8. Now's your chance to prove to the x DSC members that things have really changed!

You know doudt dislike me for being vocal and asking uncomfortable questions about who was really running the club after the new team took over....
All was told to me by a MT member what was really going on.... blah blah (while you were chairman)

To be told after the event by the unsavoury person i could not race at Pembrey if i refused to pay membership even though other DD racers had not renewed their subs!
So i lost large amounts of money to cancel my race subs!

    That aside

TD at Donny is a great idea as the cadwell one is up north and not easy for most to travel to.

Maybe everyone should give the DSC a chance and forget the past and move on as DD racing was brilliant fun :upyeah:

  9. Did you ever see that bob diamond smile...........the bastid!

  10. Yep ride a 53bhp 600ss in the fast group with 150bhp + fantastic idea, have a go and then comment on how it was for you.

But the fast group ACU only day was never a problem... mutual respect and no Attitude!

  11. Agree! Fleecing Bastid

  12. The question is do I want to, need to, or would I even bother?

  13. Same old DSC, then.

    :frown:

Dammit, I was going to leave the thread alone now, honest I was!

  14. I'm getting good at this trolling lark...

  15. update..... Anglesey is 8k/day

  16. Damned keyboard anarchists

*Last post in the thread from me.

  17. Did i miss the bit where someone from their MT says how hard the MT are working........

  18. That is a good question!

I think time has gone by and things have changed in the Club and the main problem has finally gone ?
So i ask you on here in front of many forum members, Is the DSC free from any input from .............. ?

  19. I think I'll join Archer at the castle he mentioned and do a spot of longbow shooting, seems a lot more inclusive and less political for a forum meet than a trackday.

  20. AndyB and Steve. do you really both have to act like juviniles to get attention?

History is history, cant you both let bygones be bygones? Burying the vendetta against the club would be a nice thing to do. Whatever gripes you have with individuals can continue for all it matters. But really, it looks like you both continue to whine and winge about stuff that is not current . There are a fair of the DSC fraturnity on here, DDers and none DDers. Bury the hatchett...........please. Ps, there will new lead of the DSC next year, time to vote.....................now if that goes awry........................Jeeze, I darent think on about that....................
