  1. @final_edition knows Ducatis better than most and has first hand experience of SP Hondas too, if he's not too busy he might chip in on this one

  9. I have a lovely S2R 1000 for sale within that price range. Great bikes great fun but. Don't get to ride much anymore on road.

  10. All advice greatly accepted.

    All helpful - coming to some conclusions now;

Basically 's' versions of multi etc are better bet.
'R' versions of sports bikes probably all too much money.

Now trying to find Ducati's in my price range nearby to have a better look at.

Thinking hyper 1100. Monster S4R or multi 1100s

  11. not a betting man but my money is on s4r

  13. Yes - can't help thinking about the value.
Sold my 916 for about £3500 a few years ago and looking at the prices now I could kick myself !

  14. Ah, you found my advice :D multi's will be worth jack shit in a few more years ;):Angelic:

  15. Yes. Although I am not buying as an investment it still plays its part.

Probably loads of bikers my sort of age could say the same but when I look at bikes for sale now that I owned years ago I could cry. ( had a Triton for years and other now 'classic' BSA's and Triumphs)

  16. Yes, one of my bikes was bought for £4750 and is now worth £15K plus :)

  17. That's the good thing with the 916's and alike, they're likely to appreciate being pretty iconic !

  18. Gotta admit it - I like sports bikes. I only have sports bikes.

But none of us are getting any younger and, for what the OP wants from this bike, a straight sitting position and bars above the top of the forks are gonna be a lot more pleasurable for him.

Plus he might even use it more as the riding position is so much more forgiving for just 'popping around locally' on - which none of us can say about sports bikes - which I just don't bother with for short local trips for that very reason.

I think the choices he's narrowed it down to sound pretty much perfect for their intended task:
AW - try and find somewhere nearby that has one of whatever in stock and just go and sit on it even if they won't give you a test ride (they should). When you've looked at and tried all three you can go home and have a think for a while about it and maybe go and compare the remaining two if you haven't narrowed it down further.

Doesn't matter which you buy as long as you're happy with it. If you end up not liking it just change it for something else!

Good luck and let us know what happens - with pics!
