  1. Thank you CJ , all good advice ,,,, my thots are begining to go with the relay , but i cant do ebay , maybe wifey can help , the plug etc is a bit of a prob at moment as working facilities are limited until weekend ,,,,,,, a new battery is easy and cheap for moment ,,,,, if that does not help then it is fairing off on saturday !!!!!! Finn ,,, new leads is on the list just dont have work facilitis at moment ,

  2. try this. jump lead battery earth to good earth on engine, if no improvement batt + to starter solenoid or starter itself.

  3. You will be able to get the relay from most motor factors or Halfords etc. Probably cost about a fiver.

To remove the fairings on a 749/999 takes 10mins.
To remove the spark plug/plugs requires a 'thin walled' spark plug socket, an extension and a ratchet.
To remove the stick coil all you need is a 10mm socket or spanner.

  4. I expect i would need some numbers to get relay frm halfrauds , but i will ask at lunch time when i go up for battery ,,,,,i know about the fairing as had off / on a few times , but think the plugs are not so easy to get at , ( i may be wromg , hope so )

  5. I guess you. Are doubting the wiring ,,, unfort my work facilities do not allow for much ,,,,,,,,, will try all these things at weekend , and after new battery ....

  6. Plug access is easy :) tank can be propped up with a bit of 6x4 for access to the rear cylinder - front can be jiggled out without loosening the rad quite easily.

  7. If it is a faulty fuel pump / injector relay should i still hear the pump priming ? ( Which i can )

  8. don't doubt it. just covering the bases. and exe has promised me 20% ;)

  9. not conclusive replace anyway and throw the old one away.

  10. Thank you , have done the 6x2 thingy before ,,,,,,, btw , your cables are @ £100 fot 749 ?

  11. I dont even know where the fkn thing is !!!

  13. Check the battery leads where the copper joins the bracket that clamps to the battery. A mate with 05 749 had +ve lead failure (frayed to 25% but not easily visible)there and caused same problems. Extra earth from starter bolt to batt -ve is compulsary requirement on these bikes.

  14. local halfrauds dont do bike parts

  15. standard rely fits most cars.

  16. Just take the relay in with you. Like you would if you needed a bulb. It's not a specific bike part.

  17. just be careful of 20A and 30A relays match the colour?

  18. Relay is a 20amp N.O ( normally open contacts) should have 4 spade terminals.
Unfortunately, Ducati for some unfathomable reason, have located the relay behind the battery box heat shield, which needs to be removed to allow access.
Once access has been achieved it's possible to reposition the relay in the small rubber 'cage' just by the lhs of the battery which negates the need to remove the heat shield on subsequent visits!

  19. Thats great help boys , ( thank you all very much ),,,,,if the new battery does not fix it then fairings off sat morn and get into it !!!!! With bit of luck someone has already relocated the relay , ( oh but then i wont know which one it is !!!! Omg )

  20. Will be along soon mate , ta
