Trumpet Replacing The Crashed 999

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by its me, Sep 12, 2015.

  1. As the title says.
I'm now the excited owner of a brand new Daytona 675R. Or at least I will be when it arrives in 2 weeks.

Following my accident 2 months ago and after owning nothing but Ducs for the past 10 years I decided to replace my 999 with something different other than a Duc (still got the Ducati st3s though:upyeah:)

Yesterday I test rode the Triumph Daytona from A1 moto in York. The sales guy Adam turned out to be someone I've ridden with a few times from the 'Ducati up north forum' he once had a lovely highly tuned 748.

I took the twisty route to Helmsley and the handling was sublime!
The air box growl was like having a lion as a pillion.
The torque spread is excellent and the top end scream is addictive:Nailbiting:
The small tank fit snuggly between my loins, the bars are comfy with less strain on the wrists than my 999 and the seat padding absorbs my fat arse perfectly.

I think it's a well put together package for 11k brand new that includes:
    1. Adjustable ABS
    2. Slipper clutch
    3. Quick shifter
    4. Ohlins suspension all round
    5. Steering damper.
    6. Brembo brakes
    7. Carbon mudguard, hugger, fairing inlays.
I've got the Arrow exhaust sorted, sliders, seat cowl. I just need to decide which tail tidy to buy?
I'm like a kid in a sweet shop with a credit card melting away:Greedy:

I'm going to hide behind the sofa now ready for the should have tried replies start?
Be kind remember by broken bones haven't healed fully and the fractured skull could be to blame!!
    :Bawling:

  2. Happy new bike Errol!
Should have got the.... Thruxton though. It can be more or less guaranteed that it will snow the day after it arrives.
Looking forward to the next run out, with you at the back!

  6. I came in this thread to take the piss out of the nobber that replaced a 999 with a top heavy fat arsed Triumph.

    Then I read it was a 675R.

Top bike mate, I hope you're both very happy together! :upyeah:

  7. It ain't the runaway leader of the highly competitive middleweight sportsbike class and one of the most effective track bikes of all time for nothing. You've bought a great bike and variety is the spice of life. Enjoy.

  8. saw one in a dealer just shortly after i had bought the 749,, if i had seen it sooner then i may well have bought it, not because i prefer it to the 749 but just because it was so nice,, red on white.

  9. I've just sold mine for the 899, can't recommend them highly enough though, do NOT listen to people that say the Ohlins doesn't make a big difference on the road, it does, mine was just phenomenal out of the box! I rode it to Scotland in the summer , trackday last month, great bike! I had the Arrow but I fitted the standard heat shield on as I didn't like the gap left when the arrow is installed, also had the Austin racing fairing extension on the other side where the silencer used to sit. See pics below, I think it finished the bike off nicely.

  10. Yeah I'd take an 899 over a 675 any day!

  11. I fancied a change from a Duc.
But once the itch is scratched who knows?;)
    The 899 is a stunner.

  12. I know i shouldn't say this but, the 675R is an awesome bike, i think my loyalty to Ducati says 899 but the Tona is sweet, good luck. P.S it must have a big bang on the head though;)

  15. 1199 wow, now were talking :upyeah:
Yeap my son beats me at everything.
You can let them win at 5 years old, but 25 years old :D it's so annoying.

  18. It's a good plan going for a different kind of bike from the one who had a bad crash on. Associative flashbacks are not fun and the further you place yourself from the exact circumstances of your bad experience, the easier it will be.

On another point, I will say that the 675R is the kind of bike to woo me off of litre sportsbikes. I daren't have a test ride though, in case an obsession comes upon me (or possibly, a pipedream bubble gets thoroughly burst if I find I hate the Triumph :) ).

  19. You won't hate it! But I agree u shouldn't as I shouldn't have ridden the 899! Look what happened, ended up buying one!

  20. I absolutely love the 675R, I've ridden one a few times and it's a riot!
The right amount of power for UK roads, sublime handling, an awesome soundtrack and it looks stunning too.
    Really quite jealous tbh.
