I put Carbone Lorraine pads in a week ago. Huge improvement. Very, very pleased with them. They stop really well and yet have feel. Yesterday I was almost home when Mr. Shitforbrains suddenly jumped on his brakes. I wasn't expecting it, was a reasonable distance behind him but I would not have stopped in time if I hadn't had these pads in, that's a fact. The new pads paid for themselves right there and then. Highly recommend them. As for how long they'll last...don't know, but they made me last longer.
I put Carbone Lorraine pads in my ST4 a week ago. Huge improvement. Very, very pleased with them. They stop really well and yet have feel. Yesterday I was almost home when Mr. Shitforbrains in a hatchback suddenly jumped on his brakes. I wasn't expecting it, was a reasonable distance behind him but I would not have stopped in time if I hadn't had these pads in, that's a fact. It was so 'out of the blue'. The new pads paid for themselves right there and then. Highly recommend them. As for how long they'll last...don't know, but they made me last longer. I posted this on the ST forum but felt others would benefit too. Multistrada riders might be well advised to put them in on the rear, I'm sure they'd be an improvement.
Good to hear. My SF will have a full set of CL pads when it comes back from its service. Hope I will be as happy with them.
just fitted a set of these to my 999, after bedding in the difference from the ebc pads are unbelievable, luv them
Rear: Rx3 Front: XBK5's. 2 sets, 1for each side. The 5 is the latest model. This is the setup for a Sportsbike. Don't bother with CL Brakes in Solihull, they only do cars. There's a few places on eBay do them. Think I got mine from Bolton.
Steve will correct me if I'm wrong but it memory serves I'm pretty sure our very own Conquest Carbon can supply them as well with forum member's discount. Didn't know that when I bought mine from Motorcycle Parts Bournemouth Poole
these are the ones I use Carbone Lorraine CL XBK5 Front Brake Pads for Ducati 999 Monster S4R 2007-2010 | eBay
Michel, if it's me you were asking, I think I had Brembo's in before. I'll look through my folder with all my records n receipts for the bike. I don't think you'd be disappointed with them on a road going sports bike.
EBC sintered HH are supposed to have the advantage of low dust, so less muck on your wheels, calipers etc. Any indication yet of dust levels from your new CL pads?
I use SPR Racing for my CL pads as they are the cheapest I've found. SPR Racing Never had a problem with dust. In fact I think they're better in terms of dust than the OEM Brembo. Still can't believe people use and recommend EBC though...!
Hi I used CL pads in my work bikes (Honda Sleauvilles) for several yesrs and found them to perform at least as well as anything else while at the same time being very kind to the discs ..... my winter bike has 145k on the clock and scarcely any lip on the front discs. BUT ..... the last 3 sets have de-laminated (material come adrift from the backplate). First time i shrugged my shoulders, second time I went back to shop and heard nothing more, third set I went back to the shop and got a bit stroppy. Pads went back to importers who then forwarded the verdict from France ...... I wasn't cleaning my bike enough, apparently!!! I suppose they remove the wheels and calipers from thier works vans to clean the brake pads, then. Anyway ..... nice pads but do keep an eye on them if you use the bike as year round transport.
Just had a look. No sign of dust yet. I'll keep an eye on this n let you know but must say I'm more interested in how they stop me. If the rain stops I might put some miles on the bike this week. I've probably already done 750-1000 with them so far though. I got them from RTT in Baaarnsley. They sent them out quickly and efficiently.
Good to know but must say I'm a fair weather merchant. Done that, been there, got cold, got soaked, hit the ice, hit the Tarmac. That was years ago, don't do it any more.
