A question to all you racers and ex racers what's a good lap time round Silverstone my quickest time was 3 minutes 2 seconds last week on my track day I know the gp boys are around the 2minute mark, so way off I know but just wondering what a good time in the racing world is?? Cheers
2.20 is a good time, that's BSB Superstock qualifying time (i.e. To allow you to race not what grid position you star from), my mate was doing 2.21ish last week as he's thinking of going for a wild card entry this year. I was doing 2.50-2.52's the same day you were there my quickest was a 2.49. But that was on a 72 BHP SV650 so was loosing out to everything down the straights.
Best I have done is a 2 min 16 on a Triumph challenge 675 bike at motogp in 2013 (support race). Anything below 2 min 20 is quick on a stock 600. Anything below 2 min 15 is quick on a 1000. I'm yet to ride my 899 there but hoping to make my Ducati Cup debut there in Oct so will have to see how the Duke goes. Club wise nobody runs the layout as they all run the national or international.
Chatting to Kyle Ride at the DUK day, he said how different (and difficult!) the 899 was compared to the trumpet to set up
Yes I am finding that out at the moment! That said the 675 comes oversprung out the box and needs softening up. The Duke I have found feels like a chopper and im struggling between jacking it up and ground clearance at places like Cadwell. Only rode it a few times though.
