  1. Theory tho is that yiu need to be braking all the way to the apex, then throttle. Unless youre a css tutor, where its brake early, turn late and pick throttle up before apex

    Or so it seems

Mike Dickenson made a big thing of how early I braked, and was all in a straight line, but how quick I was out of a corner

  2. I suppose it's all different styles for different riders, bikes and tracks? I didn't trail brake at all before the Panigale as the R1 wouldn't turn until I let off the brakes and I didn't really suss it out on the Panigale until Jerez at the beginning of the year. Since then I've been trail braking very deep into the corner but I guess too much as I was running out of speed and needed to get on the throttle early which got me where I've been lately too much on the limit?

  3. In which case you were braking too early if you are in gas before apex (for most corners) with non css

Braking makes the bike easier, not harder, to turn as it compresses the front

Interesting crash in m2 today, and toseland explained is that as he came off the brakes, the forks are decompressed a biy but the tyre pings back quicker and reduces its profile therefore grip patch and front went

Exactly how MD examined it to us: compressed tyre = flatter tyre = safer and more grip

  4. Well !! I'm just not sure what I do !! But it seems to work !-)

  5. Giving the times you pull, do well indeed :upyeah:

  6. Yes, I kind of realised that regardless of the technique that I was braking too early. Crazy thing is very late braking is probably the strongest tool in the Panigales box. I wasn't able to get my head around being able to break even later to push me through to the apex!

It doesn't count with the 2003 R1 though, as that literally would not turn whilst on the breaks. I had a heart stopper moment one day carrying too much speed into a road corner and braking hard. I had to force myself to let off the brakes and commit to dropping into the corner as otherwise I would have gone into a wall.

Thats a really interesting nugget of info. Makes sense.

  7. i quite like almeria, its a tricky track to get lines right and u don't spend much time upright in a straight line

if you want to avoid focussed then tracksense do almeria a couple of times a year

  8. That's who I am going with in October after FE damaged my bike a couple of years ago with their 'interesting' loading techniques. Only disadvantage is that that its not a Brit only track with Tracksense as they share the time with a bunch of mad Spaniards

  9. Going with tracksense end Nov to somewhere, cant remember where

  10. 30 nov -3rd December is almeria, sounds like will see u there bradders :)

Ducv2- I have Seen plenty a mad spaniard on an FE day too tbh.
The tracksense events are run on the back of bike promotion a German track day organiser so there are of riders from all over Europe there. Bike promotion are great hard working and professional yet lots of fun and make everyone very welcome. They are a serious outfit make the big British tdos look Micky mouse by comparison.

  11. Do they use the lap timing to put people in the correct groups of the same speed/ ability ??

  12. Yes it's run like a race weekend. Everyone has transponders. and they shuffle the groups accordingly. they also use them for grid positions for the fun races,
fwiw, BP also run endurance races, super pole and a beginners race at some of their events too.
Sounds heavy but it's easy going, loads of fun and really well managed.

  13. Yes, it wasn't mad in a bad way, just crazy mad on Yamaha super scooters. It was an excellent 4 days, laugh a minute, with a big group of riders from Finland on a European track day tour and a very rapid Ukranian. And some rapid Jocks. Only 4 weeks until it happens again :upyeah:

  14. The V4 doesn't quite look like this anymore, after my off at turn 2 on the last day. Big thanks to the medical staff at the circuit, and the hospital staff in Almeria, and HJC, BKS, ARMR, and Alpinestars.

  15. Ouch 'turn 2' hope your ok !-/
Can be fast especially last day !

  16. Hello Al, spoke to you a couple of years ago on the pit wall at Almeria, I think you were probably the quickest guy out there that year, let's just say you looked committed through the final corner. I am fine really, the usual battered and bruised, nothing broken, which is a miracle looking at the footage, bike five feet in the air and upside down, and the only part of my body touching the ground, the top of my helmet, so yes, lucky I guess. I will be back out there as soon as the bike is repaired, looking to do Mugello and Brno next year, and the new circuit at Almeria.

  17. Good you're ok, I always seem to land on my Head !
Bikes can always be fixed !-(
Me and couple friends booked for Almeria Feb 18-21, I tried to find more info abt circuito Andalucia (is it built yet?)
Would of liked to get back to Aragon next year but looks like focused cancelled it this year ??
When I was there last year there were only abt 50 bikes and they run 2 groups the first day(35 degrees it was hard work) excellent track.

  18. Bloody hell, just seen this. Sounds nasty, glad you're ok.

  19. Hello Royal,
Let's just say that the RSV4 is a tough old bike and has survived remarkably well, just have some repairs to the plastic tank to finish off and it will be back in action. Just waiting for my wrist to sort its self out and I will be back out there also.
